But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 Wisdom is an odd thing to think about. We all need more of it, yet we think of it rarely. Most believe that knowledge is facts and ideas that you have acquired over the years and through the experiences of your life. Wisdom is when we use all that we know effectively. Wikipedia defines it as: “the ability to think and act using knowledge, experi- ence, understanding, common sense and insight.” I’m so glad that we always act in wis- dom. Yeah, right. One of our problems is that we ignore whatever knowledge we have gained, there- fore acting ignorantly. We’ve all been there. We have horrific stories because of our lack of wisdom. Others see wisdom as what we gain only after we make big mistakes. But when we repeat the mistakes, we are revealing that we really only gained knowledge (That was so dumb!!) and not wisdom (This is how you don’t do DUMB again). Where does God enter into our search for wisdom? One of our biggest failures is that we often act using only our wisdom. Then we are mad at ourselves that we didn’t han- dle the situation better. Solomon tells us that God gives wisdom, and that knowledge and understanding flow from God’s mouth (Proverbs 2:6). Well James 1:5-6 says if we lack it (and we all do), then ask for it from God. How about we all do that now? “Lord, Jesus, give us the wisdom that comes from You, the knowledge and under- standing that flow from Your mouth. Let us seek You, that You might tell us “great and un- searchable things that we do not know.” Lord, we seek not just to know more of You, but to utilize what we have already learned and what You are teaching us. Help us NOT be hear- ers only, but DOERS of Your Word. Give us wisdom, and help us act wisely in Your eyes, O our Strength and our Redeemer.” CARE NET Baby Bottle Campaign The Care Net Baby Bottle Campaign “Change for Change” will start on Sunday, February 2nd and end on Sunday, March 1st. This is a fun and easy way to promote life and support your local pregnancy help center! Simply take a bottle or two per family and place them in a popular place. Over the course of the campaign, remember to pray for our centers while you fill the bottles with coins, cash or checks. Return the bottles to church at the end of the campaign on the bottle return date. Your participation in this fundraiser makes a huge difference in the lives of the unborn as well as of the women and men who come to the centers seeking support. Calendar / Birthdays & Anniv. 2
