I graduated from the University of Dayton with a Master’s in School Counseling.I have been married for 4 years, and I have a daughter, Eleanor, who is almost a year old.I love helping students navigate the choices that high school and college presents.

Graduation Requirements for Classes of 2014 and Beyond

Ohio Graduation Test (OGT)• Taken for first time in March of sophomore year• Need to pass in order to graduate

(Reading, Math, Writing, Science, Social Studies)

• If a part of the OGT test is not passed, students have an opportunity to retake the test:

-Twice during the junior year -Twice during the senior year-Once in the summer between the sophomore/ junior years-Once during the summer between the junior/senior years

Important Information Regarding Registration:

Schedule Changes: Students can get their schedules in early August, and changes should be

made before school begins (this avoids chaos once school begins).

Students have three days to add/drop classes after the semester begins.

Schedules will not be changed the first day of each semester so that students have an opportunity to experience the class.

A student who fails a course will be rescheduled into that course whenever possible. Taking two classes in one year of math, science, or English will not be permitted, unless permission is received from the instructor and counselor.

High School Academic Diploma with Honors Graduating Classes of 2011 and BeyondStudents need to fulfill only 7 of the following 8 criteria

1. English 4 credits2. Math 4 credits Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or equivalent and another higher level course OR a four-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content

3. Science 4 credits including Physics and Chemistry

4. Social Studies 4 credits5. Foreign Language 3 credits/units of one language

6. Fine Arts 1 credit7. 3.5 GPA8. 27 ACT or 1210 SAT

SUGGESTED REQUIREMENTS FOR COLLEGE ADMISSION TO A STATE UNIVERSITY (College-Prep Schedule)

• Fine Arts 1+ credits (Art, Music, Band)

College-Prep Curriculum• Need to have at least C average in English to take

• Will look at grades at end of third nine weeks and can adjust schedule if grade criteria is not met

(junior/senior elective). This class is worth ½ credit.

be provided as stated on the IEP.

Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC)

• Eligible to apply sophomore year (after Christmas break)

• Sophomore tour/visitation• Will still graduate as an Ansonia student• Can still participate in Ansonia athletics and other

activities• Transportation to and from MVCTC is provided• Programs are available for students of various academic

abilities.

Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program• A great opportunity for high academic achieving, disciplined

students to earn college credit while in high school.• To qualify:

• All students must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 high school GPA (3.0 in a subject area).

• Incoming freshmen and sophomores: score an 18 for English and/or a 22 for math on the ACT.

• Incoming juniors and seniors: same ACT testing option, OR achieve college-level reading/writing or math in Edison's COMPASS placement assessment.

• Underclassmen must take a minimum of 3.2 credits per semester.

• Seniors must take a minimum of 3.0 credits per semester.• Failed classes must be paid for by student.

(currently $401.88 for a 3 credit hour class)

NCAA College Freshman Eligibility Standards• NCAA Division I has a sliding scale for test score

requirements and GPA.• For example, a student with a higher GPA can earn a lower score

on the ACT/SAT and maintain NCAA eligibility.• If you would like to see the sliding scale, see me afterwards.

• NCAA Division II has a GPA requirement of 2.0. Also, DII has a minimum SAT score requirement of 820 and an ACT sum score of 68.

-SAT score includes only the critical reading and math sections
