PRELIMINARY 76 mm (3.0”) photomultiplier L76B17 series data sheet description 1 The L76B17 is a 76mm (3”)diameter, end window photomultiplier with a blue-green sensitive photocathode and 10 high gain, high stability, SbCs linear focused dynodes. It is electrically and mechanically interchangeable with the ADIT B76D01 but without the need for a separate focus connection. The short base version (L76B17S) is a plug-in alternative to many other 10 stage photomultipliers having a 14 pin capped base. A flexible wire version is available (L76B17W) and this can also be supplied fitted with a voltage divider to a configuration agreed upon with the customer. 2 applications scintillation counting general purpose low light level detection 3 features low dark current good energy resolution high pulse linearity low rate effect helium resistant envelope window characteristics 4 100 300 500 700 900 0 10 20 30 % wavelength nm quantum efficiency spectral range*(nm) 290 - 620 refractive index (n ) 1.52 d K 50,000 Th (ppb) 250 U (ppb) 200 L76B17 soda lime (ppm) typical spectral response curves 5 0.1 1 10 100 1,000 10 4 10 5 10 6 10 7 50 500 A/lm Vk-a (kV) 1.5 1.2 0.8 1.0 0.6 0.5 0.4 0.3 0.2 gain typical voltage gain characteristics 7 photocathode: bialkali active diameter quantum efficiency at peak luminous sensitivity with CB filter with CR filter dynodes: 10LFSbCs anode sensitivity: nominal anode sensitivity max. rated anode sensitivity overall V for nominal A/lm overall V for max. rated A/lm gain at nominal A/lm dark current at 20 C: dc at nominal A/lm dc at max. rated A/lm dark count rate pulsed linearity(-5% deviation) rate effect(l for Dg/g+1%): magnetic field sensitivity: the field for which the output decreases by 50% most sensitive direction temperature coefficient: timing: multi electron rise time multi electron (fwhm) transit time weight: maximum ratings: anode current cathode current gain anode sensitivity temperature V (k-a) V (k-d1) V (d-d) ambient pressure (absolute) 6 characteristics mm % mA/lm A/lm A/lm V V x10 nA nA s mA mA Tx10 % C ns ns ns g mA nA x 10 A/lm C V V V kPa -30 22 5 68 50 9 0.5 50 200 850 1000 1 0.5 2 - 30 20 1.3 0.5 TBD TBD TBD 142 950 3.0 100 100 10 200 60 2000 300 300 101 unit min typ max o 6 -1 -4 + - 6 o (1) (2) subject to not exceeding max.rated sensitivity subject to not exceeding max. rated V(k-a) (1) (2) -1

10 base configuration (viewed from below)

A range of B14A sockets is available to suit the B14A cap of the L76B17S and L76B17L. The socket range includes versions with or without a mounting flange, and with contacts for mounting directly onto printed circuit boards. The L76B17 can be supplied with a custom designed voltage divider installed.

ordering information11The L76B17 meets the specifications given in this data sheet. The desired basing option must be specified when orderingby appending the W,S or L suffix to the part number.Custom specifications are available.

Product with special test requirements, integral voltage dividernetwork or with one or more of the shielding options below willbe assigned a suffix with the letter A followed by a unique 3digit number to designate the requirement.
