REACH FOR A PEACH

How to Pick PeachesFor yellow peaches, look for fruit with a golden undertone and

which is slightly soft to the touch. Please - no need to squeeze them

hard. This applies to nectarines too. For white peaches the undertone

should be creamy yellow. Firm fruit with the proper color is

mature and will ripen in a few days at room temperature. DO NOT

PICK GREEN FRUIT. It will not ripen satisfactorily.

We grow 15 varieties of yellow and white peaches and nectarines

which ripen during an eight week period between mid-July and mid-

September. Our biggest volume is in August. The above dates are

approximate and vary with the season. Always call ahead to check

availability.

Harvest dates vary with the season.

How to Pick ApplesAs you enter, inquire with our sales associates about the designated

picking area(s). When you find a ripe apple, grasp the stem between

your index finger and thumb. Give it a slight twist and gentle tug.

Please do not yank the fruit off the tree, as it causes others to fall off

and can easily break the branch.

Fruit of the same variety on the trees often vary in ripeness and

firmness. Generally, outside fruit ripens first, inside later. Green

skin and flesh color turning to yellow indicate sweetness and less

acid. Largest fruits ripen before smaller.

PUMPKINS, GOURDS, AND WINTER SQUASH ARE AVAILABLE

MID-SEPTEMBER TO CLOSING.

Eastmont Orchards employs the most modern and up-to-date

growing practices as specified by our State and Federal Governments.

These guidelines include integrated Pest Management (IPM) which

minimizes the use of pesticides. You can be assured that all of our

produce is ready and safe to eat. It’s always a good idea to wash

products with cold water before using at home.

PEACH STORAGE

Peaches taste best when they are not refrigerated, but if they ripen

early and you want to keep them longer, you will have to either refrig-

erate them or freeze them. Peaches freeze particularly well.
