Veeam partners with Microsoft and VMwareVeeam Software has announced that it is collaborating with Microsoft and VMware to help partners extend their availability offerings to the cloud. Specifically, Veeam is working closely with both Microsoft and VMware to ensure that Veeam Cloud Providers (VCPs) will be able to seamlessly deploy Veeam Cloud Connect in Microsoft Azure and VMware vCloud Air.

Backup/recovery software revenue grew 6.8 percent in 2013, reaching $4.7 billion1[i]. The growth was, in part, a result of the demand for integrated solutions for cloud-enabled backup/recovery and the increased need for information management. As businesses look to extend their operations into the

cloud—public or hybrid—data protection is an ideal candidate. Through its close partnerships with Microsoft and VMware, Veeam continues to lead the market in delivering a robust solution to meet customer needs.

“Across the globe, customers and resellers alike are looking to the cloud to grow their businesses,” commented Ratmir Timashev, president and CEO of Veeam. “Placing critical assets outside your ‘walls’ is a leap of faith, but with Microsoft Azure and VMware vCloud Air, resellers and service providers have two offerings that help them take the cost, complexity and concern out of data center design and deployment. Veeam

has long-standing partnerships with both Microsoft and VMware, and our teams are tightly integrated to ensure that together, we are able to provision the Always-On Business™.”

Veeam recommends that IT organizations follow the 3-2-1 rule: Three copies of data on two different kinds of media, one of which is off site. Veeam enables IT to satisfy the offsite requirement without having to invest in offsite infrastructure or management, since cloud resources are available on demand.

As part of its commitment to deliver robust cloud-based availability, Veeam recently announced Veeam Cloud Provider (VCP) partners that will provide support for cloud backup with Veeam Cloud Connect on the first day of Veeam Availability Suite v8 general availability, eliminating the need for customers to deploy costly off-premises infrastructure

and diversified economy. Towards achieving this priority, QCC seeks to introduce fast, simple, safe and convenient solutions that allow stakeholders to use our services more effectively. The Jawdah portal embeds latest technology and innovative solutions to streamline the entire service delivery process.”

Al Muaini called on stakeholders to actively utilize the ‘Jawdah’ system by registering in the system via QCC website or downloading the application on mobile devices.

QCC’s participation in the GITEX Technology Week 2014 aims to highlight its programs and electronic systems that facilitate enhanced communication with all segments of society. GITEX Technology Week 2014, currently underway at Dubai World Trade Centre, is set to conclude on October 16, 2014.

Gitex preview: Sharp

How long have you been exhibiting at GITEX?Following our successful participation at InfoComm 2013, Sharp has returned to the Middle East’s flagship ICT event on a bigger scale with more exciting products being showcased this year.

Our theme at this year’s GITEX is ‘Bigger Impact, Sharper Impressions.’ We firmly believe that our professional display products should be easy to use, multifunctional and fully integrated. In this year’s case this means showcasing solutions that drive multi-platform integration and a set of products that drive sharper efficiency across different industry verticals, providing businesses with a wider selection of our various digital signage solutions.

What is the relevance of this exhibition to your business in the region?Gitex provides us with a platform to not only gain great visibility and brand awareness but to also connect with our regional customers and partners. It also gives us the opportunity to introduce businesses to our latest innovations in intelligent visual display solutions.

From Sharp’s perspective, it provides us with the ideal opportunity to showcase our future technologies and our commitment to remaining at the forefront of industry innovation.

What will you be doing special this GITEX?The growing demand for our interactive display technologies across sectors such as retail and

education has influenced the make-up and design of our stand this year. From looking at a new era of possibilities in digital retail design to immersive education experiences, the zones demonstrate how our cutting-edge display and signage solutions are transforming businesses in the region.

Will you be launching any solutions at the show? If not, will you be focusing your activities on any particular solution in your existing set?The Sharp stand is divided into specific zones that represents the usage of display solutions for education, industry signage, business and art. The education zone hosts a range of Sharp’s products that help create integrated and smart learning environments enabled by technology.

Within the signage zone, Sharp is showcasing its solutions that illustrate the future of display technology for the retail, banking and finance and entertainment industries. The zone also includes sensor based digital signage solutions, currency exchange and queue management displays that help enhance customer experiences at banks and retail outlets.

In the corporate zone, we are displaying meeting room management solutions for businesses and boardrooms. This includes a line-up of next-generation HD video conferencing and collaboration solutions in partnership with Creston.

Finally, the art zone has an artist creating live caricature and calligraphy on a Sharp interactive LED display. In addition, Sharp is also displaying a 32” digital signage monitor on an easel stand. This signage monitor comes equipped with its own Android player.

Are you planning on being back next year?Sharp Business Solutions is looking forward to connecting with customers and partners at events such as GITEX Technology Week to showcase our commitment to remaining at the forefront of technology innovation.

Fluke...Synergix, Oxygen and Mitsumi.”

Gerhard Auer, VP- EMEA, Fluke Networks, stressed the significance of distributors to the company. The company pulls in 15 percent of business from the region annually, which is likely to double within the next two years, Auer said. ”We will be increasing our investment in the region as the Middle East market is a high growth market. We have a comprehensive partner strategy for each product line. For our range of cables, we prefer to partner with cable testers. For performance management solutions, we prefer to partner with value-added resellers that already have a presence within the desired vertical and can provide technology advice to the customer.”

The company follows a bifurcated approach for the different products

– where it seeks an extended partner reach for existing tools and networking monitoring solutions and similar appliances. “The company is quite new in the enterprise monitoring space and the company needs more visibility for that particular solution,” said Auer.

Fluke Networks would investigate the verticals in which it seeks to have a larger presence within the region. “We are a team of seven people active in the region for a decade and a half. Signing up partners is not a priority for us at GITEX this year – it is rather to explore the verticals we would like to penetrate with enterprise management solutions launched last year,” added Auer.

Hereen feels that the company is still spreading its wings in the Middle Eastern market. “There are a lot of opportunities coming to the horizon. We can’t grab them all but we do keep an eye out for where we can position our products.”
