“We are focusing on enhancing SME reseller capabilities. Our message to partners is that although the market is a challenging one, IT companies by working together can overcome it. The market is competitive but at the end of the day, they can complement each other. If we take the decision to compete on price alone, I believe everyone will lose. We need to increase our maturity in discussing our business opportunities.

Dubai Civil Defence and Avaya have signed a contract to deploy video conferencing and real-time collaboration solutions across the department.

According to the government body, the suite of solutions aims to enable quick and seamless exchange of information between the Department, its experts, and customers. Its implementation will also establish Dubai Civil Defence as a ‘Smart’ organisation in a ‘Smart City’. The solution is being implemented by Avaya, in coordination with Connect IT, Avaya’s partner.

Maj. Gen. Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Defence,

and Mohammed Areff, Vice President, MEA and Turkey, Avaya, signed the agreement at GITEX 2015

Maj. Gen. Al Matroushi said, “This agreement provides seamless opportunities for collaboration and information exchange between Dubai Civil Defence, its customers in the construction industry, and other stakeholders. This is enabled via Messaging and video communication solutions offered by Avaya, in collaboration with their partner Connect IT. This architecture will facilitate instantaneous communication and information exchange and consultation between our experts and advisers.

This agreement aligns with Dubai Civil Defence’s ‘Smart

Defence for a Smart City’ strategy, which is built on advanced technology infrastructure and the digital transformation of our processes and services. This strategy stems from the Dubai Smart Initiative announced last year by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which is a call-to-action for the public and private sectors to collaborate on transforming Dubai into a world-class Smart City.”

“Avaya is reputed internationally for its high-quality solutions, and we are working with them to identify additional ways in which our processes and services can be developed, and to also develop a very high degree of accuracy when it comes to the protection of life and property. As our department very often directly impacts the ‘happiness’ of citizens, residents and institutions in the UAE, we are confident that this implementation will go a long way in bringing about a positive trend in customer satisfaction and overall happiness in the UAE”, he added.

Transys...led implementation of cloud services. “We are the leader in Oracle SaaS solutions with 40 odd engagements, and most of it are first-time implementations in the Middle East. We have won many awards from Oracle and the crowning glory was when we were recognized as the partner of the year for Oracle application services across EMEA.”

With the increasing popularity of cloud services, Transys plans to lead the charge and change customer mindset about this new paradigm shift in technology. “Most of the customers buy into cloud, thinking of it as a channel and are still stuck in the on-premise infrastructure. The best way for customers who have invested heavily in on-premise solutions to start the journey to cloud is to with point solutions, and migrate external-facing applications and then build the integration layer. Cloud should be your first choice for any application exposed to a larger number of target audience, because cloud, by default, gives you mobility and analytics,” says Balasubramanyan.

Transys, which has offices in the UAE, Kuwait and Kenya with two development centres based in India, plans to expand its portfolio with complementary vendors, especially in the business intelligence space. “We also offer our own mobility platform to mobile-enable any ERP functionality, be it in online or offline mode,” says Balasubramanyan.
