Close-upThis is quite an intense moment in skins and so the close up is needed to show emotion on the character’s faces and make it easier for the audience to relate to the characters.

Extreme Long ShotThis is one of the opening scenes, it’s used to show the location and show the audience where the action will take place.

Extreme Close-upThis shot just focuses on the eyes, it creates tension as the audience can’t see what’s going on in the background so the audience can only guess what will happen by looking in the characters eyes. It also makes the audience feel more involved as they are so close to the character.

Medium Close-upThis is the most common shot used in TV Dramas. The characters are having a deep conversation and so the medium close-up is needed because the audience can see the expression and emotion on the characters faces and also the shot is big enough to fit both characters on screen.

Big Close-upThis shot is needed to show the detail on the character’s face. This close up is used to show the audience the effect of what just happened to the character.

Medium Close-upAnother medium close-up is used to show the confrontation with the two characters. Once again two characters are used in the shot so the audience can see the expressions shown from both characters at the same time. The people in the background being visible in the shot make the shot more believable, giving a realistic verisimilitude and add to the tension.
