Hochschule für Politik München TUM School of Governance Chair of European and Global Governance Susanne K. Schmidt is Professor of political science at the University of Bremen. She has served as the Dean of the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) from 2009-2012. She has published broadly on questions of European integration, including the role of the Commission, competition and liberalization policies in the EU, and mutual recognition as a new mode of governance. The policy implications of case law of the European Court of Justice at the European and the national level are the current focus of her work, and the topic of her monograph The European Court of Justice and the Policy Process, Oxford University Press 2018. Her work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Public Policy, Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics European Union Politics, Public Administration, Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis, and German Politics.
