The Akarua Arrowtown Autumn Festival is very proud to support the Arrowtown Wilding Group and Predator Free Arrowtown. Our autumn colours are precious to us here in Arrowtown, and as many locals will have noticed, over the past few years our beautiful area is being affected by invasive wilding species. The Arrowtown Wilding Group has a thoughtful strategy to combat the wildings and is currently undertaking the removal of wildings on Tobins Face. We have donated $3000 towards purchasing non- invasive trees which are being carefully selected to give great autumn colour. Keep an eye out for a planting day to be held in spring – it will be all hands on deck!Predator Free Arrowtown was started by dedicated local Ben Teele to protect our local birdlife, lizards and other prey by laying traps to catch predators such as ferrets, stoats and rats. So far we have donated 25 stoat traps which are in place on Brow Peak.Let’s all get behind these great community groups! For more information or if you can help, please contact Ben Teele on [email protected]
