Background on Parent Survey

• The parent portion of the 5Essentials Survey is not included in the calculation of 5Essentials results for schools or districts, the original research-based 5Essentials system is comprised of the teacher and student survey components only.

• Unlike other 5Essentials data, parent responses are not public, but rather provided to schools and districts as an opportunity to help leaders understand the conditions at each school and help parent communities guide ongoing improvement.

• Parents/families are not required to complete the survey. As such, the responses included in the parent survey results may or may not be representative of the entire parent population in a school or district.

• Response rates were higher in 2015 than in prior years, and each school in District 97 met the 20% participation threshold and will receive an individual data report.

Communication Preferences
