Erik MeijerBusinessman GFF Gold MemberERIKS JOB always takes him places, from major towns in Indonesia to cities in Singapore and Hongkong. So it did not take long for Erik to become a GFF Gold member after he first joined in 2002. I fly nearly every month, so I always qualify for gold membership, he said. That is a good thing because Erik enjoys gathering mileage and spends them to buy tickets for him and his family for holiday trips, while the extra baggage allowance and the priority check-in are helpful facilities. In the future, he hopes GFF will work together with other loyalty programs of similar industries and improve the online service for GFF members. Im sure Ill be seeing more Garuda Indonesia in the future, he said.

Ferry SalimEntertainer GIC Card HolderAS A GIC Card Holder, Ferry automatically receives GFF member benefits. In fact, Ferry has flown to numerous destinations by using his GIC Card for the past 8 years and gathering mileage points. I often fly with Garuda Indonesia and it would be a waste not to gather the reward points, he said. Ferry also enjoys the extra baggage facility and the comfort of the Garuda Indonesia Lounge, which are found in numerous airports all over the nation. Ferry hopes that GFF member will get their own designated 24-hour hotline in the future. So itll be more privileged, he said.

Garuda Indonesia Joins SkyteamIN ANOTHER MAJOR development in the chapter of Garuda Indonesias history, on 23 November, the national flagship carrier signed an agreement to join the SkyTeam airline alliance in 2012, expanding the alliances network in South-East Asia by adding 30 new destinations to its current roster. SkyTeam is a global airline alliance providing customers from member airlines with access to an extensive global network featuring a huge number of destinations, high flight frequencies, greater connectivity and benefits such as over 420 lounges worldwide. Passengers can earn and redeem Frequent Flyer Miles throughout the SkyTeam network. Joining SkyTeam is a long-term development strategy for Garuda Indonesia, and for years we have been upgrading our service and actively forging cooperation with SkyTeam member airlines with this objective in mind, said Emirsyah Satar, President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia. As the first Indonesian airline to join this world-class alliance, our strategic target is to continuously strengthen profitability and boost international market competitiveness. The most fitting word to describe 2010 for SkyTeam is growth. Welcoming a member that covers a considerable part of South-East Asia definitely illustrates our expansion, explained SkyTeam Chairman Leo M. van Wijk.

The Diving Heaven, ManadoTHERE IS ONLY one place in Indonesia that can claim the title of diving center, and its in Manado. With a gigantic and classic natural collection about 3,000 species of fish and 300 species of coral reefs, the Bunaken Sea Park is a heaven for diver, The swish of the school of fish entering and leaving your sight and the crashing of the underwater currents on the chromatic coral reefs is much like experiencing a safari amidst the wilderness in Africa: enchanting and mesmerizing. Bunaken is about 40 minute boat ride away from Manado Island. There are at least 40 diving points in the area, most of which offers the delicate grandeur of soft and hard shelled coral reefs. Those willing to wait a bit may sight at some large fishes, such as the Marlin, the Manta Ray and even several species of sharks. Aside from Bunaken, another attractive diving spot is Lembeh strait. This 12 kilometer long strait is said to have become an exclusive heaven for experienced divers due to its collection of small but unique, and absurd fishes. Located in Bitung, Selat Lembeh has played a major in drawing domestic and international tourists to Manado. Slightly farther from Bunaken, but just as attractive is Manado Tua or Old Manado, the largest island of a string islands located off of Manado Bay. The Undersea Park of Old Manado is a brilliant combination of coral reefs, saltwater fish and other underwater flora and faunas. The island is circled by a small paved road. At a place called Tanjung Raja, you can see an old Portuguese ships anchor. In Tanjung Kopi, you can quietly observe the sea turtles crawling up to the shore to lay eggs during the full moon. Year after year, as the area welcomes and harbors thousands of divers. Experiencing Bunaken remains an extraordinary sensation. A tourist attraction that one must come and see for themselves.

Beyond the SeoulKOREA, Japan and China have a different and unique charm, compared to other Asian countries. Close to the prevalence of the Oriental culture, these three countries seem to be always ahead in terms of development, economy and technology. Korea, Japan and China in particular has a war-torn history which helped shaped the country. It was slightly difficult finding that slice of traditional wealth beneath the modernity of the ever-moving Seoul. You can start by visiting the National Fold Museum (NFM). Located in the vast palace courtyard, NFM is equipped with both indoor and outdoor displays with a section dedicated especially for children. In the outdoors, you can captivate the beauty of Seoul by admiring the jangseung, wooden statues that represents God in a time when religion was a foreign concept, amidst the sakura trees and the falling pinkish-white petals and the captivating blooming golden bell leaves. Inside the Museum, the NFM is divided into three exhibition halls showcasing the history of Koreans; their arts and their crafts, their living essentials and the Korean lifecycle. In another section was the tradition behind the making of Kimchi, a type of pickle serves as a staple in every Korean meal until today, and it turned out that here are 200 types of Kimchi. In order to get away from the crowd, Seoul people love to spend their weekend in Soeraksan, a hilly area next to the small town of Sokcho, which is a favorite gateway and reachable within a four-hour drive. Soeraksan is a charming place to visit in anytime of the year. Another attractive site is the Daepo Fish Market. Aside from enjoying the various oceanic views next to its seaside locations, aquariums of fresh saltwater fish and other marine life can easily make you want to stay here forever. Sitting next to the beach with the spring wind gently caressing your face while hearing the classic squawks of seagulls and watching the orange sunset sky, you can easily understand why the Seoul people love Sokcho.

Easy Check-In with the Smart MachineAn alternative from Garuda Indonesia for a more effective check-in processTHERE IS ONE process in departure that nearly all airplane passengers dread: the check-in. Many use this process to measure the comfort of the rest of their flight. The long line of luggage-lugging passengers in front on check-in counter is too common a sight, bellowing frustration among potential passengers who can spare little time for this procedure. If this case is too common for you, then it is time to switch to a more effective check-in process. Garuda Indonesia is your provider for this particular switch with our Self Check-In facility as an alternative to the long and dreary checkin process. Self Check-In means that passengers can independently check-in using an ATM-like machine called the CheckIn Kiosk, which has several different features compared to the common check-in counters. Other than handing out boarding passes, the machine allows passengers to choose their own seating and read credit cards for the verification process required for passengers using the reservation or the Garuda Indonesia Online Booking ticketing processes. The Self Check-In facility can be used by Garuda Indonesias domestic flight passengers departing from Jakarta for all flight classes within the period of between four hours and 45 minutes before the time of departure.

Here are the 4 easy steps of Self Check-InT2

Head to Terminal 2 of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and bring your Itinerary Receipt Pick the corresponding options at the Self Check-In Menu and choose your seating online using the available Check-In Kiosks Pay your Airport Tax at your corresponding Gate Fly in Comfort with Garuda Indonesia airline
