SWEET SIXTEEN CELEBRATIONS

The requirements are as follows:

1. Family must be registered in the parish and be active members (attending with envelopes every week) for at least six (6) months. 2. The child must be baptized, received First Communion and Confirmation, or, be registered in our Faith Formation Program preparing for Confirmation. The child should be part of one of our ministries (Youth Group, Altar Servers, or Children's Choir Group). 3. Parents and child must make an appointment to speak with the Pastor once all requirements are met. Please make sure that you make the arrangements at least three (3) months prior the celebration. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in order to maintain this celebration up on going.

PRAYER & LIFE WOKSHOP The last Friday, January 25th, 2019 the “Taller de Oracion y Vida”, started the annual workshop in Spanish. All our community is invited to attend the 15 weeks workshop held in the Convent from 6pm to 8pm every Friday. The regis-trations are open until February 15th. Please call the parish office and leave your information for Maria Remache.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear parishioners,

We have begun the Ordinary Time of the Liturgical Year and it is precisely in the daily events of our parish life that we can find the motivation to continue our journey.

We are going to carry out important works of restoration in the physical structures of the Church: Most of them in the area of the Altar, that includes the transferring of the Taber-nacle to the center of the Altar. We are waiting for the dioc-esan permits, budgets, etc. to start this work soon. We will also have a Marian shrine at the site where the Tabernacle is now located. We also need a new Baptismal font that will replace the current one which is badly damaged. This work will include new confessionals that will give respect, privacy, discretion, and security to the penitent and the con-fessor.

The technological advances that we are experiencing now, have forced us to get a new telephone system that responds to the needs of the community and the Church, as well as of our Religious Education Program. Both, the new telephone system and the updating with modern security cameras bring heavy expenses for the parish.

Thank you for your participation through your weekly and monthly commitment to our church. I ask you to discern the relevance of participating in the 2019 Annual Bishop's Campaign that would allow us, if we exceed the Goal, to obtain additional funds for these urgent and necessary pro-jects.

I would like to add a note of appreciation for your love and commitment that continues to be a sign of the enormous potential of our community. END OF THE YEAR TAX STATEMENTS Tax letters will be ready by the beginning of February, 2019. Those who have contributed less tan $500.00 and would like to receive a statement must contact the rectory office. Please… when you receive your statement if there is any discrepancy please do not get upset… contact the Par-ish office.

The regular Masses of 7:00 and 9:00 AM from Monday to Friday will be held in the Valero’s Hall of the church, due to the restoration of the Altar.

PROGRAM OF 9 WEEKS FOR ONE SACRAMENT

The Parish of the Blessed Sacra-ment announces the opening of registration for those persons over 18 years old, who want the Sacra-ment of Confirmation or First Communion to complete their Sac-raments of Initiation.

This program lasts for 9 weeks and starts on March 1, 2019.

To know what the requirements are and if they qualify, you must call the Faith Formation Office at 718-639-6159.

All candidates must be registered in a parish communi-ty.

CELEBRACIÓN PARA QUINCEAÑERAS

Los requisitos para esta celebración son: 1. La familia debe estar inscrita en la parroquia y ser miembros activos (asistiendo con sobres cada semana) al menos por seis (6) meses. 2. La quinceañera debe estar bautizada, haber recibido su Prime-ra Comunión y Confirmación, o, estar asistiendo a las clases de preparación para recibir la Confirmación. La quinceañera tam-bién deben pertenecer a uno de los servicios para los que necesi-tamos colaboración (Grupo de Jóvenes, Monaguillos, Coro). 3. Los padres de familia y la quinceañera deben hacer una cita para hablar con el párroco al menos con tres (3) meses de antici-pación siempre y cuando cumplan con todos los requisitos. Agradecemos su comprensión y colaboración para así poder mantener esta celebración.

DESDE EL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO Queridos parroquianos,

Hemos comenzado el tiempo ordinario del año litúrgico y es precisamente en los eventos cotidianos de nuestra vida parroquial que podemos encontrar la motivación para con-tinuar nuestra ruta.

Vamos a proceder a importantes trabajos de restauración en las estructuras físicas de la Iglesia: centrados en el área del Altar y que incluyen el traslado del Santísimo al centro del Altar, estamos pendientes de los permisos diocesanos, pre-supuestos etc. para comenzarlos pronto. También tendre-mos un santuario Mariano en el sitio donde ahora está loca-lizado el Tabernáculo y además necesitamos una nueva pila Bautismal que reemplazará la actual que está muy dañada. Esos trabajos incluirán nuevos confesionales que respeten la privacidad, discreción y seguridad del confesando y del confesor.

Los cambios tecnológicos que se viven ahora nos ha forza-do a tener un Nuevo Sistema telefónico que responda a las necesidades de la comunidad y también de nuestro Centro de Educación Religiosa. Tanto este nuevo sistema telefóni-co como la actualización y modernización de las cámaras de seguridad implican un fuerte gasto para la parroquia.

Al agradecer su participación a través de su compromiso semanal y mensual con su iglesia les pido que disciernen mucho la pertinencia de participar en la Campaña Anual del Obispo 2019 que nos permitiría si superamos la Meta obtener fondos adicionales para esos proyectos urgentes y necesarios.

Me restaría agregar una nota de agradecimiento por su ca-riño y compromiso que sigue siendo una muestra del enor-me potencial Pastoral de la comunidad, expresado también en el apoyo que nuestros jóvenes participantes a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud 2019, recibieron para poder ir a Panamá el pasado mes de Enero y reunirse con millares de jóvenes en esa fiesta de la juventud mundial con el Papa Francisco!
