This week in particular focuses on restoring relationships between Indigenous and European Australians. But is this all there is to reconciliation? The idea of reconciliation is not new. It is at least 2000 years old and is part of Paul’s teaching in his 2 nd letter to the Corinthians. Here Paul tells us that God initiated reconciliation between himself and everyone in the world. He says in verse 19, “that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” And he also “gave us the ministry of reconciliation”v18. If we look around us we can see many other areas where reconciliation is needed both locally and in the world. Perhaps even on a personal level this may also be true. We can see all cases of reconciliation as part of our ongoing ministry to and with others. It is not always easy or quick but with God’s help it can be lasting. One way to begin is with forgiveness and to not count others sins against us. This is exactly what God has done and continues to do with us. Chris Ruediger Curiosity is wanting to know or learn more. Reconciliation: Old or New?

This past week has been Reconciliation Week in Australia. According to the Macquarie school dictionary to reconcile is, “to cause to be friendly, to be no longer opposed”. Most, if not all people, would see reconciliation to be a good thing as it promotes a positive outcome between people. This week in particular focuses on restoring relationships between Indigenous and European Australians. But is this all there is to reconciliation? The idea of reconciliation is not new. It is at least 2000 years old and is part of Paul’s teaching in his 2

nd letter to the Corinthians. Here Paul tells us that God

initiated reconciliation between himself and everyone in the world. He says in verse 19, “that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” And he also “gave us the ministry of reconciliation”v18. If we look around us we can see many other areas where reconciliation is needed

both locally and in the world. Perhaps even on a personal level this may also be

true. We can see all cases of reconciliation as part of our ongoing ministry to and

with others. It is not always easy or quick but with God’s help it can be lasting.

One way to begin is with forgiveness and to not count others sins against us.

This is exactly what God has done and continues to do with us.

Dear friends,

Winter is here but our school is far from hibernating (although on mornings like yesterday an extra

hour under the blankets would have been nice!). It is still a busy place.

Children across the grades have enjoyed the different play and exploration space in the back corner

of the school this past week – amongst (and up) the trees, under bushes, creating paths and cubbies,

cooperating and imagining. In a safe but supervised area children are finding that there are fun ways

to play and interact and learn without structured lessons or playtime. As we discover more about

Nature Play as a staff and school we could see more activities and spaces like this being utilised.

Further information is found later in the newsletter.

Next week the R/1/2 classes are visiting Restvale Nursing Home. What a great way for them to

interact across the generations, practice their reading, be a part of the community and glean a little

information about the ‘past’ to add to their History unit their term.

Please keep in mind our School ‘Curiosity’ Showcase on June 17 (3.30pm – 4.30pm and 7pm - 8pm).

The students would love to show you how and what they have been learning in their inquiry units this

year. What a great opportunity also to invite friends and family to see our school on display.

Until next week,

Mr Lieschke
