BUILDING COLLABORATIONCAPABILITY WITH THE NSWOFFICE OF ENVIRONMENT &HERITAGE Collabforge has just started on its4th collaboration project in sixmonths with the NSW Office ofEnvironment & Heritage (“OEH”). Mark Elliott recently contributed to anew book investigating the role ofmass collaboration in education.Mark’s chapter, StigmergicCollaboration: A Framework forUnderstanding and Designing MassCollaboration, draws on his PhDresearch and presents explains howcollaboration can scale from small,collocated groups, to largedistributed communities likeWikipedia. It also describes theconcept of stigmergy as an essentialingredient for scaling collaborationonline by using cues and behaviourto create organic collaborationwithout a need for centralmanagement of activities.
