Oktoberfest!
For 59 years, Oktoberfest has been lifting the spirits of the City of La Crosse and the Coulee Region. But in 2020, that didn’t happen. The world turned upside down and words such as Gemütlichkeit and Ein Prosit were replaced with quarantine and social distance. We mourned the loss of family and friends and adjusted to the loss of our personal freedom.
In June of 2020, members of the board met with the Mayor and a delegation from the police and decided it was in the city’s best interest to not have Oktoberfest. And again, this summer, members of the board met with the Mayor and a delegation from the police department and decided it was in the city’s best interest to have Oktoberfest. So Oktoberfest will carry on! Gemütlichkeit will return to La Crosse and the air will be filled with Ein Prosits for our 60th celebration.
