of the Alta du Toit School (R1900 per 4 ball). Funds raised will be used to

upgrade the play area at the school to make it a wheelchair friendly

This is a new initiative on our golfing calendar and is scheduled for

Saturday 3 August 2019. The event will be run as part of the normal

Saturday club competition with the standard Saturday competition entry

fee payable. Entrants will be randomly drawn into 4 balls on either the

Presidents or Captains team and will not be able to select who they want

to play with. The main Idea behind this event is for us as club members to

mingle and get to meet each other. The winning team “captain” Club

President or Club Captain will receive a Trophy and the winning team

players will each receive a medal. Please remember to enter your name

on the tee sheet either by booking at the proshop or via the

Clubmaster app / website. (See poster below)

Just a friendly reminder to those who use carts to PLEASE avoid the wet areas on the fairways and we ask that all continue to repair divots and pitch marks. Below is a list of some future maintenance plans on the course we thought all members should be aware of.

Bare patches on greens will be replaced with sods by September

The brown patches on the greens will be over seeded

Roots next to the greens, especially at NO.11 & No.13 will be removed

Greens will be Ferti-drained and dusted between September – October.

A plan of action is being developed to address the uneven tee boxes

Some trees at the tee boxes will be removed as they hamper growth

Security on the course remains a concern due to the fact that people have access to the course. It has been agreed to move the small guard house in the parking lot to the area near no.5 / 6 hole and have a guard who patrols along that area. We however ask that members continue to be vigilant and not leave your golf bags unattended.

A reminder to those golf development juniors who have not yet completed the new form to do so and return it as soon as possible.

This coming weekend sees the beginning of the Western Province Challenge League. The Challenge leagues consist of teams of 8 players (4 home & 4 away) playing singles match play games off scratch. Kuilsriver has entered a team in both the 1st and 2nd League. We wish the teams the best of luck for this coming weekend and the rest of the season. The chairs in the lounge area have been around for some time now and have become fairly unsightly. These chairs are also fairly bulky which in turn limits the number of people we can fit into this area. The club relies on hiring this area out for functions as an additional stream of income and we hope to increase the number of events hosted there in future by replacing the chairs and being able to seat more guests. The current chairs in the lounge and Halfway house will therefore be replaced with new less bulky chairs (as shown below) and we will look at selling off the existing chairs.
