PROGRAM OBJECTIVEThe objective of this conference is to convey an understanding of current legal issues affecting breeding, buying, selling, ownership interests, racing and other business operations of the horse industry. The program is designed for attorneys who counsel, represent or litigate on behalf of buyers, sellers, breeders, brokers, owners of interests in horses, and other entities involved with the industry. This conference is open to the public. Individuals with experience in the horse industry will find the sessions useful and informative. LEVEL OF INSTRUCTION: Intermediate to advanced. SUGGESTED PREREQUISITE: Substantial interest, experience or practice in subject area.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITThis conference is structured to provide continuing legal education credits for lawyers licensed in states which require specific hours of instruction each year. The conference is now or will be qualified for CLE credits in all mandatory states. The Kentucky Con-tinuing Legal Education Commission should approve the conference for 12.75 credit hours including 1 hour of ethics, as should other “60 minute” states. States measuring credits in 50 minute increments should approve the conference for at least 15.4 credit hours including 1 hour of ethics.

CONFERENCE LOCATION & ACCOMMODATIONSThe conference will be held at the Embassy Suites, 1801 Newtown Pike, Lexington, Kentucky. Rooms for conference participants have been blocked at the hotel. The block is from May 1 through May 3, 2012. Rooms are held until April 2, 2012 at the rate of $145.00 per night. Early reservations are strongly advised. REGISTRATION INFORMATIONThe registration fee includes attendance for all sessions, course materials in format selected, Wednesday and Thursday luncheons, Wednesday reception, continental break-fasts, and refreshments. Pre-registration is recommended. Door registrations on the day of the program are accepted on a space available basis. Cancellation charge: Full refund up to and through April 13; $100.00 April 14 to April 20; and no refund after April 20. Registrations are transferable and substitution of registrants may be made any time before the seminar begins. If conference materials are desired, they will be mailed after the program and the cost of the conference materials will be deducted from any refund.

138th KENTUCKY DERBY AND RELATED EVENTSThe conference schedule, adjourning Thursday afternoon, will allow ample time to attend the running of The Oaks (the traditional all-filly race) at 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 and the famous Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Tickets for The Oaks and The Kentucky Derby can be purchased directly through Churchill Downs, Ticket Office, 700 Central Avenue, Louisville, KY 40208, (502) 636-4400. Thoroughbred racing tickets are not included as part of the conference.
