headlines over the past weekend. The Highlands Panorama News spoke to a few readers. One reader had the following opinion: “We are not surprised because you hear about cases of this all the time. And what about those weapons that are supposed to be booked in as evidence for being used in crime?”“I was in a farm attack and the weapons used in the attack were the property of the SAPS. Although the police told me that the weapons were reported stolen, I still found it difficult to comprehend how criminals got access to them,” said another Lydenburg resident. These residents chose to stay a n o n y m o u s b u t p h o n e d t h e newspaper about their shock and

outrage. The fact that 743 firearms went missing from the SAPS was made public knowledge after DA spokes-person on police Dianne Kohler Barnard raised a question about the matter to Police Minister Nathi Nhleko. It revealed that 743 firearms had disappeared from police custody. The biggest loss was in KwaZulu-Natal, where 165 weapons went missing. The Eastern Cape was not far behind with 150 weapons while Gauteng was in third place with 139 missing or stolen firearms.Reports stated that this is still an improvement on 2013/2014, when the police lost 773 firearms, and 2012/2013 when 840 disappeared.If someone suspects the existence of a stolen SAPS firearm they are urged to contact the police at 013 235 2222.

Nuwe diabetespompie sal klein Dian se lewe verander

IT is not only the rate at which these animals are being killed, but also the manner in which this happens that has many South Africans calling for more stringent action. In a recent incident in the Kruger National Park (KNP), poachers hacked the horn from a rhino while it was still alive, leaving the animal to stumble about with its face mangled to a bloody mess until the traumatised animal was spotted by horrified tourists. Since January, the country has lost more than 400 rhinos, with the Kruger National Park (KNP) being the hardest hit in terms of numbers at 33. In response to the spiralling problem, public and privately-owned nature reserves and conservation agencies joined forces with Environmental Affairs Minister, Edna Molewa, who has set up a National Wildlife Crime Reaction Unit (NWCRU).This unit consists of the SAPS Organised

Crime Unit, SANParks Environmental Crime Unit, t h e P r o v i n c i a l C o n s e r v a t i o n A n t i -P o a c h i n g U n i t a n d prosecutors at a national and provincial level. It functions with extended powers to include the expertise of the national d i r e c t o r o f p u b l i c prosecution to fast track successful prosecution of suspected poachers.Former SANParks chief e x e c u t i v e D r D a v i d Mabunda, said, "This move by the minister enables the var ious conserva t ion a g e n c i e s , i n c l u d i n g privately-owned game reserves, to populate poaching incident reports and allow for accurate n a t i o n a l p o a c h i n g statistics, something that is key to the appropriate management and eventual reduction of this problem."

This is the highest level of poaching for rhino horn that has ever been experienced by the country.Thus far 25 suspected poachers have been arrested, with 17 having been arrested in the KNP, five in Gauteng and three in Mpumalanga.It must be understood that not only does the KNP house the majority of rhinos resident in any one property in the country, but it also holds about 300km of the eastern international border of the country. This makes it easier for such criminals to elude the arm of the law by escaping into the neighbouring countries.SANParks appreciates the return of the army to patrol this border and it is hoped that with their intervention at least one of the escape routes for these wildlife criminals will be made near impossible to breach.Dr. Mabunda said having visited Tanzania before, he was saddened to hear that a population of over one thousand Eastern African Diceros michaeli sub species of rhino has been reduced to ten rhinos since 1960.

oopmaak en oop hou en so vreet hy batterylewe en data. Toemaar, ek het dit ook eers nou die dag by Pierre geleer. Ewenwel, volgens die Marina, is haar lewe ook so. Sy het te veel “apps” oop. Vergun my nou bietjie plagiaat, want ek wil graag met haar storie ploeg.Nou, ek verstaan die ding. Ek het ook ver te veel “apps” in my lewe oop. Kom ons noem hulle toeps, of is dit toepe?Daar is soveel toepe by my oop dat ek breinvries kry soos die wind daardeur waai. Ek werk op ’n ingewikkelde storie op die rekenaar dan lui my foon. placing fake job adverts, demanding fees for job placement or contacting them with fake offers via social media. Fortunately it is possible to protect yourself against bogus advertisers, by following simple safety guidelines.“A lot of these adverts seem entirely legitimate, which is why it's important to do a quick check before providing your details,” says Claire Cobbledick, Head of Marketing for Gumtree SA. A first port of call is to Google the company. If the company does not reveal their name in the advert (as many don't), send a very polite email requesting further details about the position and the business, stating that you are interested and would like to know a bit more. Make sure that the address and phone numbers exist – a quick view on Google maps will confirm.”A good rule of thumb is to use online job hunting resources to determine what you should expect from the job hunting process. Women should be wary of advertisers asking for photographs to accompany their applications – particularly over Whatsapp and other social media sites. “Even if the job is based on physical appearance – like professional modeling – a professional would require a portfolio and a face-to-face. I'd be wary of advertisers looking for administrative assistants or a receptionist that insists on photos.” Another trick that would-be job scammers employ is to offer jobs on the condition that the applicants pay for “training materials”. “They should be paying you – if it's the other way around, warning bells should go off.”Job seekers who do come across unscrupulous advertisers on their site should immediately report it to Gumtree.

THE Lydenburg SAPS once again warned motorists and vehicle owners that remote jamming devices are being used. Sgt Elizabeth Magoa said that there were several incidents in town during the past few weeks. A criminal will jam the signal of the car's alarm and remote and the owner will walk away. Then the criminals will use the opportunity to burglarise the vehicle. Sgt Elizabeth Magoa said that there was video footage confirming the theft at a shopping centre. It has also allegedly happened at Nedbank and the Standard Bank ATM with tourists. The incident happens when a person leaves their vehicle (or home) and pushes the remote to activate the locking and alarm system, a criminal pushes a similar remote at the same time effectively blocking the signal of the locking remote. called remote jamming, car jamming or carjam.Using a remote device to block or jam the locking device to motor v e h i c l e s h a s unfortunately become an everyday occurrence in South Africa. Daar is 16” allooiwiele, vliegtuigtafeltjies vir die tweede ry passasiers met baie beenruimte, USB, iPod in, misligte, outomatiese hoofligte en outo ruitveërs, banddruk monitors, ritrekenaar en twee 12V kragpunte. Die skuifdeure maak weerskante groot oop en toegang is maklik. Die bagasieruim met sewe sitplekke is redelik klein, maar met die agterste sitplekke opgevou is dit groot. Die instrumente is volledig en netjies maar diep agter die stuurwiel en jy moet bietjie stel aan die stuurwiel en sitplek om alles mooi te kan sien.Die 6-spoed ratkierie werk seepglad en koppelaar en remkontroles is lekker lig.Dié bussie is dus gelaai met elke gerief waaraan jy kan dink. Daar is hope pakplekkies oral in die kajuit, baie groot sonskerms met spieëls in albei. Ek was besonder beïndruk met klein goedjies soos die volwydte pakketrak in die dak voor vir kaarte, reisboeke ens, wat gleufies in het, sodat jy kan sien as daar goed in rondlê. Die kajuit of binneruim spieël is ’n blink idee om jou kinders dop te hou sonder om om te kyk.Op die pad bestuur die bussie lekker. Die diesel maak 85 kW en ’n allemintige 285 Nm se wringkrag. Dit is juis hierdie wringkrag wat so laag as op 2 000 omwentelinge al maak dat die voertuig teen opdraendes soos ’n trein trek, sonder om spoed te verloor.Teen 120 in sesde loop die enjin 2 000 opm en teen 140 sowat 2 400 opm, wat sal verseker dat die Tourneo baie ekonomies sal wees.Die Tourneo voel groot en stabiel op spoed en die remme is baie goed.Dit is ’n hoë en groot voertuig en jy kan hom nie op die pad rondgooi soos ’n sportmotor nie, maar hy voel nogtans baie veilig. Die voertuig is doodstil op die pad en daar is min wind-, pad-, enjin en veerstelsel geraas. Dit sal baie lekker toer.Bussies (en vir my selfs SUV’s) is nie die mooiste voertuie op die pad nie. Ek hou van ’n dubbelkajuitbakkie of mooi motor met lyne, maar dis ’n man ding. Hier gaan dit oor die praktiese waarde, gerief en veiligheid en in dié opsigte skitter die Ford Tourneo. Ek is seker die meer praktiese mense en veral dames gaan baie beïndruk wees met die bussie as hulle hom gaan ry. Ek sou bv. verkies dat dit bietjie hoër van die grond af loop, maar soos dit is, maak dit in- en uitklim sonder trappies maklik. Die 16 duim wiele met behoorlike rubber sal dit redelik immuun maak teen kleiner slaggate.My enigste kritiek (wat subjektief en persoonlik is), is die effe lae grondvryhoogte, die sigbaarheid (vir my) van die volle instrumentpaneel en natuurlik die voorkoms.Die praktiese aspekte wat my beïndruk het en hoe die voertuig ry en hanteer en die gerief en luuksheid, oorskrei enige kritiek wat ek het.As jy elke dag ’n klomp mense moet vervoer en met jou gesin in gerief wil gaan toer, moet jy die Tourneo Connect by McGee & Kie gaan bekyk en veral toetsbestuur. OPEL is keeping the styling of the next Astra under camouflage for now but it appears when the German automaker does make the new model public at the September’s Frankfurt motor show, it may revive the famed GSi moniker for a sporty turbo model that’ll sit below the Astra OPC.Plenty of spy footage has revealed Astra test mules doing the rounds throughout Europe, with some sporting twin exhausts and beefier alloy wheels, but not the full complement of wings and gaping air intakes, a-la hardcore OPC.A GSi model could offer between 150kW and 175kW, placing it behind the 206kW OPC but punching well above the current next best model in the range, the 132kW 1.6T. This would place the GSi up against five-door competition like Ford’s Focus ST and VW’s Golf GTI.Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann confirmed engineers have developed a smaller, lighter body for the next Astra which bodes well for a sportier, more agile and efficient drive. The weight saving is believed to be around 100kg. Which begs the question, why’s the

current Astra so heavy?As for the rest of the range, downsizing and turbocharging is

Polokwane Mayors Race

Me Lu-Ann Heyl, eienaar en hoof van Tingeling Kleuterskool, Steelpoort is ook gekies om as beoordeelaar op te tree vir die eerste en grootste kleuterkompetisie wat Suid-Afrika nog gesien het. Tingeling Kleuterskool het nou al verskeie kere op kykNet verskyn hierdie jaar en was verlede jaar gekies om saam met Ollie die Nar op sy Kersfeesvideo op te tree. Vir hierdie Kersfeesvideo was net tien kleuterskole landswyd gekies. Alle opnames was geskiet by Tingeling Kleuterskool te Steelpoort en Lu-Ann is weer gekies om as beoordeellaar op te tree later die jaar. Lu-ann is vir die afgelope agt jaar die trotse hoof en eienaar van Tingeling Kleuterskool en bedank haar Hemelse Vader vir die sukses van die skool, haar gesin, Tingeling-ouers, personeel en in besonder haar Tingeling-liefies wat so pragtig was tydens die TV optredes! Wie weet, dalk het Tingeling sy eie program een van die dae op tv!

CONGRATULATIONS to the athletes of the Modikwa Marathon Club on a great performance at the Polokwane Mayor’s Race that was run this past Saturday in Polokwane.Sonia Makoua was the star of the team and completed the race with an excellent time of 01:30 The team did well again and held their name high! The new athletes in the team proved they are worthy runners and finished with very good times! The team would like to thank the Modikwa Management for the support they receive from the mine.The next race is the Comrades Ultra Marathon on 31 May from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. The athletes urge employees and friends to support

them and watch the race on that Sunday, they need all the support they can get!

He started Judo and Karate training in 1970 and in 1984 formed the International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South African. Kyoshi Eric has made many trips abroad where he undertook higher grade karate courses with great Japanese
