DEAR E91 FAMILY AND FRIENDS,

This past fiscal year has been an amazing year of witnessing God’s provision and blessings throughout our church family. As you will see in this booklet, our ministries are united and excited in helping people take next steps with Jesus.

As your Lead Pastor, part of my reward in serving is seeing so many people embrace Jesus personally, experience Jesus in community, be equipped as servants and disciple makers and extend Jesus to others. Those are not just words on a page; they are words expressing our commitment to the way of Jesus as we are on mission in our community and world.

Please take time to read this booklet and celebrate the many ways God is using E91 to touch lives and communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is breathing a fresh wind through our church family, and it’s contagious!

As we move into our new fiscal year, let’s all “consecrate [ourselves], for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among [us]” (Joshua 3:5). With humble hearts, an unyielding commitment to Christ, and a devoted love for God and others, we move forward “in the way [we] shall go, for [we] have not passed this way before” (Joshua 3:4).

HIGHLIGHTS

• Started English Talk Time, an outreach for non-English speaking friends to practice conversation and learn English

• Started Sports Outreach, with a Soccer Outreach Program for young adults and a youth Basketball Academy

• Launched a Young Adult Sunday Morning Class

• Began a partnership with Mary Castle Early Learning Center & Elementary School

• Created a Safe Families Team at E91


The Academy at Shepherd Community Center has a family enrolled whose dad has been extremely ill for the past year and could not work and support his family. They have two teenage boys and a 2nd grade student at Shepherd. The mom has had to find work to buy food and pay for basic needs. They have struggled financially this past year as the mounting medical bills make it difficult to provide for their family. The food totes came at a perfect time last fall as the three boys were on break from school. This family is extremely grateful for the food provided, and we were able to bless them with a couple extra bags as well. The mother was very emotional in expressing thanks to Shepherd for the help we provided through our partnership with your church. Words cannot express the impact this had for our families. Thank you!

FAMILY SERVED BY THE SHEPHERD COMMUNITY CENTER

The new 4x4 truck will provide social work efforts to far flung places, which a lesser vehicle could never navigate. It will deliver rescued girls safely to and from court proceedings. It will serve our program and our girls in dozens of critical ways. Thank you for allowing Rapha House to do our work in a quality way. We are so thankful!!!

HIGHLIGHTS

• Launched a second, identical Contemporary Worship Service in March

• Embraced a new schedule with three Sunday Services: Traditional at 8:45 am and Contemporary at 10:00 and 11:15 am

It had to be the Lord nudging me to approach Carmen after church one Sunday and ask if there was anything that I could do to help out on the Green Room Hospitality Team. Since the worship and production team arrives as early as 6:30 am and serves through 12:30 pm every Sunday, my friend Rita and I were invited to bring in a hot, nutritious breakfast once a month. We jumped at the chance to serve in this way. Now secretly, I wish that I could sing with the team, but for now I’m out with the congregation making my joyful noise to the Lord. Believe me...that’s where I belong for now. When I get to heaven, though, I’ve asked the Lord if I could trade my joyful noise for some awesome vocal chords! Maybe someone else will get to do the cooking then. Until that day, I’m happy to be a part of serving the Lord this way.

• Launched a new, weekly Discover E91 conversation opportunity for guests to learn more and connect with us

• Implemented new Children’s Kiosks to streamline check-in process

• Created a new premarital class for engaged couples

Being on the Welcome Team has given me a sense of belonging within the church. I love the group I volunteer with and they’ve become some of my closest friends at church.

SKYE, CONNECTIONS WELCOME TEAM MEMBER

A small group of ladies of various ages meet at E91 twice a month to quilt, crochet, and tie blankets to give to E91 members in the hospital, rehab, or nursing facilities. These women also made over 565 blankets to donate to Life Centers last year and sent 35 blankets to the E91 MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) program. They have created quilted Christmas stockings for our Home Communion ministry as well. Their ministry is open to any person, any age and skill level – they’re willing to teach you. They’re truly building a close-“knit” community!

Discipleship Communities

HIGHLIGHTS

• Newly created and existing small groups formed: Life Groups, Men’s Small Groups, Women’s Community Bible Study

• 10 events hosted by the Men’s Community with an average attendance of 50 men

• Over 250 women attended special events hosted by the Women’s Community

• 140 ladies became connected with E91 MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and Moms in the Middle programs

• CrossRoads Great Banquet hosted 6 weekends at E91, with more than 225 people experiencing a weekend for the 1st time

• 120 people explored membership or pursued discipleship and equipping skills through Life at E91, Multiply 101 and the Way of Discipleship

• Wednesday Nights at E91 had an averate weekly attendance of more than 115 people

• Room For Doubt featured Dr. Gary Habermas and drew over 600 people to events at E91, IUPUI, Butler and Purdue University


Before expressing faith in Jesus and beginning to attend E91, I would describe my life as feeling desperate. Desperate for attention, desperate for pleasure, desperate to fill a major void in my heart. I love how in 1 John Chapter 5, John said “and this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” Upon inviting Christ into my daily life, I now feel an overwhelming sense of peace and fulfillment that nothing else was able to provide for me. No material possession or relationship besides the one with our Lord and Savior has had the power of setting me free. He has set me free from more than just a longing for acceptance from others, but also from a life crippled by substance abuse and unhealthy relationships. I am steadfast in my decision to walk with Jesus and trust in him alone. It is truly through him that I am able to do all things. As 1 Peter 3:15 states: “In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

Nara grew up in Mongolia. While Mongolia is predominantly Buddhist and Christians are often persecuted, Nara did not have much of an interest in religion. In 2016, she decided to come to the U.S. to find work, settled in Indianapolis and found a job.

Eventually Batja, a good friend from Mongolia, decided to find a church and discovered E91. He invited Nara to join him on a visit, but since she wasn’t a Christian, she was extremely apprehensive, especially when she saw the size of our church building. However, Batja convinced her to come in with him and, of course, our welcoming Connections staff and volunteers welcomed Nara with open arms so she was comfortable right off the bat. Jeff and Vickie Dodge invited both Nara and Batja to join the Starting Point class, which they did. As a result, Nara accepted Christ. One of the verses we talked about when she put her faith in Jesus was John 1:14, “but to all who receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” Today, Nara wants people to know she has placed their faith in Jesus.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Transitioned every family to an online express payment system, allowing us to keep families accountable and collect tuition in a more timely manner

• Streamlined staff scheduling with technology

• Increased marketing initiatives to attract new families

• Appreciated the increased integration with E91 as a church

Two separate families in the e91 Early Learning encountered deaths this year. It was amazing to see how the church came around the Early Learning ministry and provided grief support for families as well as Grief Training for our staff. They even offered a workshop for parents to discuss how to handle grief and crisis with preschoolers.

I experienced God’s saving grace this year after being hit by a truck as a pedestrian. I experienced the hope of God that was right by my side. I KNOW the power of prayer. It had a great deal of influence in my recovery. Hundreds of people from school, parents of my students, co-workers, E91 Staff and members, and even strangers who knew someone with a connection to e91 Early Learning lifted me up in prayer, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

• Through our Parent-Child Dedications events 10 families dedicated themselves to raise their kids to know and love Jesus

• 10 kids attended Baptism Class

• Jingle Jam Christmas event had over 185 in attendance

• Crazy Camp at E91 – the first VBS-type event at E91 in 10 years!

• More than 130 kids in attendance (48 were non-E91 attenders)

• Raised over $1,900 for the Grogan School in Kenya

• Had 93 adult and students volunteers to make Crazy Camp possible!


We have been so excited to see the growth of this year’s Kindergarten class. The kids always seem to really understand the lessons that were covered in large group and apply them to their daily lives. Not long ago, we were focusing on patience. We did a fun activity with the kids – giving them marshmallows and instructions that if they waited to eat them at the end of the lesson, they would receive a special reward. It was really hard for them, but they were all successful. On the last day before promotion, we had a plate of treats for them when they got back from large group. They each sat down in front of a plate. We prayed together, and the kids just all sat and waited… we had to give them permission to eat! They were practicing patience, without even being asked to wait.

I love serving on Sunday mornings. Building relationships with the students is a huge blessing. God is on the move in their lives big time. You can hear it in their genuine answers and the stories they share. They can surprise you sometimes with how much they truly understand, and you can see heart transformation.

• E91 Students moved out of the basement into The Hall for Sunday Night programming for 6th-12th graders

• Implemented core values for volunteers and celebrated with all NextGen Student Volunteers

• Our Last Blast Outreach Event drew 79 students to our campus


This past year, we learned about being a kingdom worker. We learned how to serve God and love others with what we have. I was inspired by that and started serving God doing things that I loved. At Christmas, they asked for dancers to dance in the show at the Jingle Jam event at E91. I immediately said “sign me up!” I didn’t realize it until then, but I was being a kingdom worker by just doing what I loved. Being a part of E91 Students has allowed me to continue to grow as a kingdom worker and have great connections with God, my friends, and my small group leader.

6TH GRADE E91 STUDENT

The conversations we have had this year have been amazing – a true bonding experience. Watching them grow this year and become more comfortable with prayer has been moving to see how God is working on and through each student. I have so many girls who want to lead prayer or write prayer requests each week -- it feels wonderful seeing how empowered they are through prayer, praying for each other, their loved ones, and even for me and my family. Being a small group youth leader is a rewarding and humbling experience that I truly look at as an opportunity to help further God’s work for the children I work with as well as in my own life.

• We have unified the church HVAC into one system, which is leading to sizable savings on the church electric bill

• We have completely revamped and updated the Staff Handbook

• We have made three great hires to the Operations Team: Kelly Johnson as Communications Director, Terri Masuda as Accountant, and Tonya Stewart as Accounting Assistant

• Reinvigorated the mowing and snow removal volunteer teams and moved away from using paid vendors for these services

• Planned a complete overhaul of our Information Technology system to be implemented in Fiscal Year 2019
