The School Town of Highland Elementary Counselors will be

sharing information related to the academic and social-

emotional readiness of in-coming kindergarten students on

Monday, February 22, 2016.

The presentation will take place at 7pm in the Johnston

Elementary Library,

located at 8220-5th Street.

This presentation is geared towards parents and guardians

of preschool children; especially those hoping to participate

in the School Town of Highland’s Kindergarten Round-Up

the week of March 14, 2016.

2016 Fun Fair Basket Raffle Auction

Donations We put together baskets and raffle them off at Fun Fair. We ask that if you can, we would like you to

donate items to help fill these baskets. We have put together themes for each class to help with item

selection. Thank you so much for your help in making this event a success.

RECRUITMENT 2016 EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES: 

 The Highland Band and Orchestra Programs are now recruiting new students for 2016.  Every 5th grade student in Highland will have the opportunity during this exciting time to get a closer look at the band 

and orchestra programs.  

The band and orchestra will be visiting each school for an exciting concert presentation March 18

 Mr. Loos, Mr. Blocker, high school students, and music store representatives will be visiting 5th grade classrooms for an up­close look at the orchestra and band instruments.  Every student will get to try out 

every instrument. Southridge and Johnston: March 31 Warren and Merkley: April 1

 Check your child’s backpack soon for a registration packet that will include more detailed information about the programs, including a registration form that must be submitted by Friday, April 8.  At the registration night, students can make all the final arrangements for choosing an instrument in one place at one time.  Prospective students can try out the instruments, chat with current band/orchestra participants, ask questions of Mr. Blocker and Mr. Loos, make rental arrangements to rent an instrument, register for 

summer camp, and more! April 18 and April 19
