Prof. Esposito graduated with honours in dentistry at the University of Pavia, Italy, in 1990 and was awarded a PhD in Biomaterials from the Göteborg University in 1999. He worked as Guest Researcher at NIOM (The Nordic Institute of Dental Materials), Haslum, Norway and is a specialist in Periodontics (UK). He also acted as the Director of the Postgraduate Dental Specialties courses in Dental Implantology, School of Dentistry, University of Manchester, UK between 2007 and 2011, but now he has decided to be a freelance researcher and devote his time entirely to evidence based research in dental implantology.
He authored more than 210 scientific publications in international peer- reviewed journals. His main research interests are the assessment of the effectiveness of various therapeutic interventions with particular emphasis on dental implants. Academy vice President Prof. Wolfgang Richter
Prof. Wolfgang Richter qualified in 1985 fromThe Dental College of Hannover University in Germany and has since worked in predominantly private practice. Wolfgang undertook further specialist training in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry at private practices in U.S. followed by establishing own practices in Duesseldorf, Germany and Salzburg, Austria.
In 2010 he was appointed as Clinical Head of the postgraduate education programme Master of Science in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry in cooperation with the University of Manchester.He has published a number of original articles in dental journals and he was publisher and co-author of the 2 volume textbook ‘Aesthetics and Function’ in 1992 and 1994. As Founding President of the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD) in 2003 he has been significantly involved into a European wide certification system and quality management.

Introduction
Program Mission
The Academy provides a certified postgraduate educational program in laser dentistry. Laser users will be trained in a 6 Modules program in all fields of laser dentistry. This a six module intensive laser dentistry course which meets the Curriculum guidelines and standards for dental laser education to gain accredited Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours by the British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry upon finishing the course academic and clinical requirements in addition to the course certificate by the British Academy upon passing the course written exam.
It is BAIRD target to offer a funded education, based on the “Evidence Based” in Laser dentistry, getting the interested colleagues acquainted to the latest research findings and trends in this most innovative field of dentistry.
This unique course in clinical & evidence based laser dentistry is a clinical, multi-wavelengths, dental laser course which will enable the delegates to make informed evidence based decisions in their day to day laser dentistry practice. The essential connection between theory and practise will be established by hands-on training, work shadowing, and practical trainings at laser centres.

Application Requirements for Laser Program
Program StructureApplicant must be a licensed dentist, wishing to attain Advanced Proficiency recognition.
This one academic year course is structured in 13 intensive days, 6 academic modules on monthly basis including the exam.The curriculum of the laser program was created by the BAIRD Laser Council in co-operation with the university’s faculty members and experienced practitioners.The program consists of a basic curriculum, clinical seminars that cover all fields of laser dentistry (Endodontology, Periodontology, Conservative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Prevention, Low Level Laser Therapy, laser assisted Plastic Surgery, Pain Control therapy)
Bullets :1-Seminars presented by prominent dental laser speakers.2-Dental laser hands-on training on models and animal heads.3-Surgical and restorative clinical practicing experiences on patients with the various laser wavelengths.

Assessment Assessments consist of written test post each module (20%), clinical simulation exam (30%), and written exam (50%) The total examination passing mark is 70%.
The Clinical Simulation exam is administered in person during module 4 to test the advanced clinical proficiency using of the dental laser of participant choosing. Candidates should be able to address all the points on the Clinical Simulation Exam grade sheet within a 30 minute time frame.
Summative assessment will be carried out via a multiple-choice questionnaire at the end of the course. 150 multiple-choice questions are set on any aspect of the Curriculum Guidelines. The exam carries a two‐hour time limit. This part is administered in a proctored setting at the last day of the program. There is no limit on the number of times a candidate may apply to sit the exams he/she complies with all parts of the regulations and pay the examination fee at each time.

Dr. Shigeyuki NagaiDr.Nagai received his DDS from the Osaka Dental University, Japan in 1987 and studied at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as a Clinical Fellow from1989 to 1992 when he practiced at the Massachusetts Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1990 and the Mass. General Hospital in 1991.
He serves as a board member of the Japanese Society for Laser Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry(2010~2015), Asia and Pacific Division of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry, the Laser Education International,the Japanese Academy of Color for Dentistry and the Japan Society for Dental Anti-Aging. Dr.Nagai is the General Secretary of the 2016 WFLD JAPAN. He is a committee member of the Japan Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the Japan Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine and Japan Association of Microscopic Dentistry, a vice president and chief instructor of the Japanese chapter of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Mastis has been using a wide range of devices of different dental laser wavelengthsin her private general dentalpractice for 15 years. She has achieved Advanced Proficiency as well as recognition at the Mastership level through the Academy of Laser Dentistry. She has served as the ALD Laser Safety Committee Chair for 5 years. Additionally,she has served as 2014 Conference General and Scientific Sessions Chair, as ALDs Communications Committee Chair, as Secretary and Treasurer on the Executive Committee, and in other various capacities.
Dr. Mastis currently serves co-chair of ALDs Education and Certification Committees. She is also the Conference Chair for ALDs 25thAnnual Conference in 2018. She is an active mentor, examiner, and enjoys sharing her passion forlasers worldwide. She is the 2016-17 Vice President on the ALD Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
