Welcome to Texas for the Sixth Annual Texas Wagyu Association production sale. I am very proud to represent this outstanding offering of cattle from this very progressive group of breeders. Many of the consignors in this year’s sale have had cattle in this sale since the beginning in 2010, and we have grown the sale stronger in quality every year.

I would like to congratulate all of you in the cattle business today. We have all endured many challenges and challenging years, but we are now taking advantage of a profitable market not realized in decades. The future of the livestock industry projects to be solid for several years to come. Many drought stricken areas are recovering and looking to rebuild their inventories with top notch cattle that will be accepted favorably by the consumer. The Wagyu Breed provides a unique opportunity to fulfill these demands by producing a healthy source of protein with an unparalleled flavor experience. It is no surprise that the Wagyu breed is one of the fastest growing breeds of cattle in the United States,

Lots 15 and 16 are two full sisters sired by Red Galaxy the fine son of Kalanga Red Star and full brother to VBV ROA AKABASHI who sold at the 2012 TWA Sale for $44,000! If you have not seen this fantastic bull, here is a video of him: http://www.semenzorrillos.comlopenday/index.phpoption=com content&view=arti-cle&id=689&Itemid=852 or go to Semenzorrillos.com website click on “Otras Razas”, click “Akaushi Wagyu” then click “VBV ROA RED GALAXY”. It is very impressive! I bought his semen from Sexing Technologies; they were about out of straws the last time I called. Now that he is in Columbia it may be more difficult to obtain this quality bull’s genetics. Their black dam is a daughter of Itoshigefuji TF147 the largest foundation bull at 2640 lbs. David Blackmore in Australia is especially fond of TF 147’s daughters for their ability to raise a calf on grass. The dam is very wide and I estimate her weight at 1200 lbs. I like the way she has grown compared to the mostly Tajima lines I have had. I like T-bone steaks and if an animal goes over 30 months the government forces the butcher to discard the spine, so no T-bones. At least that is what the butchers in our area do. With these heifers you may get carcasses that can grow much more quickly for market, especially using a good growth sire. These wonderful heifers will be a great outcross to any fullblood operation especially if you want size, growth, and milk. Their Wagyu lines are: Akaushi 50, Tajima 17, Kedaka 2.5, Tottori 1 , Itozakura 18.5, Shimane 3.5, and Okayama 7.5. Odds of a red calf being born if bred to Akaushi line is 50. Both heifers are free of recessives by parentage and both have scored a wonderful AA on the SCDto have the better fat. All the progeny of these heifers will have at least one A marker of the good fat for tasty, buttery Oleic acid fat. 3. Their Wagyu lines are: Akaushi 50%, Tajima 17%, Kedaka 2.5%, Tottori 1% , Itozakura 18.5%, Shimane 3.5%, and Okayama 7.5%. Odds of a red calf being born if bred to Akaushi line is 50%.
