FORMA CONFERENCE | HOUSTON
AN EVENING DISCUSSION ON FAITH & PHILOSOPHY
January 25th
...
There is no shortage of claims intending to announce the end of
faith; nor is there a shortage of claims intending to announce the
final argument proving God’s existence and the legitimacy of faith.
However just as notices for the end of days come and go, notices
like these on faith seem to have little staying power. What we need
now is what we’ve always needed: a prayerful return to thinking
through how we can best articulate the nature of faith in the
present age. This evening discussion proposes to do just that. To
think and talk through—as articulately as we can—what faith is like.
A humble discussion on a serious topic. All are welcome to join in.
Joshua Daniel is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Philosophy
at the University of Arkansas writing a dissertation on Wittgenstein
and religion. He is also the Episcopal Chaplain at the UA and plans
to begin seminary in August.
January 28-30 2015, Keynote Speaker Brene Brown...
“Forming faithful people is an art. The mystery of God and each
person denies us formational formulae. Rather, we actively wait with
others (and ourselves) as we appropriate the vision-life of God. Join
us as we become versed in the art of forming faithfulness.
The Art of Forming Faithful People (January 28-30 2015) conference
registration includes event program, three hotel catered meals,
networking, meaningful conversation, and fun!” For more

LECTIONARY READINGS
Opportunities for Episcopalians ages 21-30...
The 2015 YASC application deadline is January 2nd. Applicants
must have a high degree of maturity and possess a faith
commitment, the willingness to be a humble guest, and the ability
to be an authentic companion. The Young Adult Service Corps
brings young adults into the life of the worldwide Anglican
Communion and into the daily work of a local community. At the
same time, it brings the gifts and resources of the church into the
lives of young adults as they explore their own faith journeys.
