the posterhis year’s Arts Festival poster artwork was cre-ated by Lulu Kaufman of Cuthbert, Georgia. Her work, she says, celebrates laughter, love, nature, and life, and embraces

the spirit of “girl power.”

After traveling and living all around the globe, Lulu has set-tled in southwest Georgia. She works in her studio on an an-tebellum horse farm, painting on recycled roof tin, reclaimed barn wood and old windows.

Lulu travels to art shows, galleries and shops across the southeast, she says, “spreading love and sunshine.” She’s also the designer for official Jimmy Buffet tour T-shirts.

Tuesday, May 20 • 7:15 pmAndrea di Robilant, Chasing the Rose: An Adventure In the Venetian CountrysideFrom the author of the best-selling A Venetian Affair, comes the charming chronicle of his search for the identity of a mysterious old rose. Andrea di Robilant’s tale takes us back to the time of Josephine Bonaparte, as well as into some of the most delightful rose gardens in Italy today, brought to colorful life in the watercolors of artist Nina Fuga.In his biography of his great-great-great-great-grandmother, Venetian lady Lucia Mocenigo, di Robilant describes a pink rose that grows wild on the family’s former country estate, mentioning its light peach-and-raspberry scent. This passing detail led to an invitation for an audience with a local rose doyenne, who wondered if di Robilant’s unnamed rose could possibly be one of the long-lost China varieties that 19th century European growers had cultivated but which have since disappeared. What starts out as a lighthearted quest

decatur LOLOMG! Decatur, you will not believe your ears!

Host: Lew LeftonLew Lefton has been performing stand up and im-prov comedy for more than 25 years. He holds down a day job as a mathematics faculty member at Georgia Tech, but that just means he’s funny and he can prove it. Lefton directs the local teen improv troupe D.U.C.K. and has performed around the country at dozens of clubs, col-leges, concerts, and conferences.

Saturday, May 241-1:45 pm The Decatur yoUth Comedy Krewe (D.U.C.K.)The Decatur yoUth Comedy Krewe (D.U.C.K.) is an im-prov group with the funniest teenagers from the City of De-catur. We’ll “quack” you up! (Sorry for the corny slogan, our parents liked it, so now we feel like we have to keep it...) www.duckimprov.com

internet folks alike. His credits include Comedy Central’s South Beach Com-edy Festival (2011), Laughing Skull Festival (2012), and SiriusXM. Jake’s work has been fea-tured on the front page of reddit.com as well as RoofTopComedy.com and has been viewed more than 60,000 times on YouTube.

pronoun agreement, prepositions, and paragraphs.

Food, Fun and Fashion in the Modern EraHighlights from the Guy Hayes Collection

his exhibit offers a small selection of black-and-white photographs from the collection and provides a unique view of food trends, clothing styles and recreational diversions of the 1950s and 1960s. Guy Hayes, a professional freelance photographer from 1944 to 1983, graduated from Clarkston High School and served in the Navy during World War II.

After the war, he settled in Avondale Estates. He was a regular contributor to the Atlanta Journal, the Atlanta Constitution and the DeKalb News/Sun. More than 11,000 of his original negatives were donated to the History Center in 1984. Al-though very little documentation accompanied this collection, Hayes’ artistic work reveals a prolific talent with an incisive eye.

Ride your bike to the festival!op on your bike, ride it to the festival, and park it in the new bike valet area at N.McDonough Street at the square. It’s free! A valet attendant remains on duty throughout the event to park

and monitor bikes. When you arrive, look for signs to direct you to the bike valet area. Then enjoy the festival knowing that your bike will remain secure. The bike valet service is sponsored by Bicycle South and the City of Decatur. The Decatur Arts Festival worked with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition to pro-vide the service. We hope to reduce the event’s impact on traffic congestion and carbon emissions by supporting the bi-cycle transportation alternative.
