2013 Annual Report

The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County had another busy, successful year in 2013. We welcomed 4,439 visitors and hosted many exciting programs including our popular Pi Day, Poetry Day, and Brain Day events in conjunction with Wabash College. In addition, Dr. Greta Binford, Biology professor, Arachnologist, and North Montgomery High School graduate, visited the museum this summer to give a talk about spiders and her work, as well as lead a group out to the Sugar Creek Nature Park to look for spiders here in Crawfordsville. She was an excellent speaker who presented to a crowd of all ages, and we hope to have her back again in the future. The Carnegie Museum also served as a venue for the North Montgomery High School Creative Writing event, which brought the students out of the school building to share their works. Photos with Santa was another popular event that brought to the museum over one hundred visitors in just a few hours to meet Santa and have a photo taken with him in our holiday décor. 2013 Exhibits: The Carnegie Museum hosted the exhibit How Does it Work? created in conjunction with Tuttle Middle School students, selections from the Hoosier Salon, and the Crawfordsville Schools K-8 Art Show. The museum also served as the first venue for Hoosiers & Their Hooch: Perspectives on Prohibition, the Indiana Historical Society’s newest traveling exhibit. As part of the 2013 Summer at the Museum program, the Carnegie Museum also hosted the national traveling exhibit Go Figure! on loan from the Minnesota Children’s Museum. It was well received, and it was wonderful to see so many little ones having fun during their visit. The Carnegie Museum also welcomed many elementary school field trips, scout troops, local organizations, and community group meetings and visitors from all over the United States and the world.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
