WE WELCOME OUR GUESTS AND VISITORS: Thank you for visiting us at Annunciation. Please know that all baptized persons are invited to receive Holy Communion. Instructions for receiving communion are provided below. Everyone is also invited to join us for coffee and dessert in the parish hall following the service.

It is the tradition of the Episcopal Church to maintain silence in the worship area so that people may pray. Please help us preserve an atmosphere of quiet reverence before worship, remembering to turn cell phones off.

About Communion All baptized persons are invited to receive communion in the Episcopal Church. We go to the altar rail to receive Communion. An usher will direct everyone in each row when to stand and get in line. Proceed to the Altar railing when there is room available. Many people bow their head or genuflect before going up to the altar. Some people can be seen making the sign of the cross as they kneel or stand, and as they leave. You may kneel or stand at the Altar railing. Gluten-free wafers are available. If you need a gluten-free wafer, please inform the priest during the peace or at the altar rail during communion.

THE MOST COMMON METHODS FOR COMMUNION ARE THE COMMON CUP AND INTINCTION. The Common Cup 1. Receiving the bread. Make a cradle with your hands, palms up. The celebrant will place the bread in your cradled hands while saying The body of Christ, the Bread of Heaven or other appropriate words. After these words are said, you will eat the bread. 2. Receiving the wine. The wine is served in a chalice as a sign of unity. Assist the server by placing one hand underneath the cup and the other hand on its side. You will help the server by guiding the chalice to your lips. 3. Drink one sip from the chalice.

Intinction 1. Receiving the bread. Make a cradle with your hands, palms up. The celebrant will place the bread in your cradled hands and say an appropriate blessing. Continue to hold the bread in your hand BUT DO NOT EAT IT YET. 2. Receiving the wine. The wine is served in a chalice as a sign of unity. The server will take the bread and dip it into the wine while saying The Blood of Christ, the cup of salvation or other appropriate words. The server will then place the bread on your tongue.

While everyone should receive communion in both kinds, some people are unable to receive the bread or wine. If you do not wish to receive the bread or wine, simply cross your arms across your chest when it is offered.

AFTER YOU HAVE COMMUNED Return to your seat via the side aisles. After returning to your seat, you may kneel, pray or sit. 1

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son.
