Gift of Securities – Federal tax laws allow a charitable deduction for the full market value of appreciated securities on the date of your gift. Special Tax Advantage – If you are over age 70 ½ and have a “well-funded” traditional IRA, you have until December 31, 2017 to take ad-vantage of the tax law, which allows you to donate up to $100,000 from your Individual Retirement Account, tax free to charitable causes. Since persons older than 70 ½ are required to take a minimum distribution from their IRA’s, taxed under current rules, it may make philanthropic and economic sense to gift some or all of your minimum distribution to a qualified not-for-profit organization such as the Annual Catholic Ap-peal. For more information, we strongly urge you to contact your finan-cial advisor and then call the appeal office at 718-965-7300, Ext 1609. How you can Enhance your Gift to the ACA Matching Gifts – Many corporations endeavor to match the charitable contributions of employees. Please contact your company’s Human Resources professional to determine if your company participates in a Matching Gift Program in the area of education. United Way - The United Way brings communities together to focus on the most important needs in the community -- building partnerships, forging consensus and leveraging resources to make a measurable difference. Fortunately for us, the United Way shares it resources with recognized non-profit organizations. The selection of those non-profit organizations can be determined by the employee by selecting from the list provided by UW. The employee can also select a non-profit not on the list as long as they are a 501 C 3 charitable organization with a focus of making a measurable impact on one's community. All the employee has to do is provide UW with the appropriate information that includes the name of the recognized non-profit (R.C. Diocese of Brooklyn), the address (310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215) and the organiza-tion's tax ID number (our number is 111631807). Should you have any questions about any of the above mentioned ways to give, please contact the ACA Office at 718-965-7300 or email us at [email protected] Please visit our website to learn more about the Annual Catholic Appeal - www.dioceseofbrooklyn.org.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK Act of Reconciliation Forgive me my sins, Lord Jesus, forgive me my sins; the sins of my youth, the sins of my age, the sins of my soul, the sins of my body, my idle sins, my serious voluntary sins, the sins I know, the sins I do not know; the sins I have concealed so long, and which are now hidden from my memory. I know my sins have wounded Thy tender heart, Jesus my Savior, let me be freed from the bonds of evil through your most bitter passion. Jesus, forget and forgive what I have been. Come into my heart and be my personal Savior. Amen. Submitted by Dolores T. Galang Share your favorite prayers: [email protected]
