Fitter (2-year fixed-term contract) The successful candidate will maintain equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications. Tasks and responsibilities: • Be responsible for daily inspection of mining equipment, maintenance of rock breakers, vent doors, booster fans, conveyors, batching plant and related equipment • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements • Perform inspections in accordance with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards • Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Supervisor • Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure • Communicate with supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment • Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done • Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence and compliance to Security and Company’s SHE objectives • Work overtime, be on standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise. Minimum requirements: • A qualified Fitter with a Trade Certificate from a recognised/accredited institution • A minimum of 2 years’ post-trade test experience as a Fitter • A valid driver’s licence • Previous experience in underground mining will be an advantage. Other skills/competencies: Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English • Pass a Vienna Assessment Level 2 (test will be conducted on the Mine) • Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking and able to do own job planning • A high level of multi-skilling. On Sunday, 3 April 2016, the Tlhabane Po- lice received a tip-off that a man in a tavern in Karlienpark was carrying an unlicensed firearm. A black Lorcin pistol was confiscated; and at this stage it is unclear if the weapon is a stolen item. Mello’s next court appearance is on 12 April 2016. Rustenburg – Minor injuries were reported when a red Mazda and a blue Jeep Cherokee were involved in a collision on the R565 on 2 April 2016. CPF Sector 2 Phokeng and Ronna Towing was on scene. Rustenburg/ Kroondal – A 39-year old motorcyclists died following a tragic acci- dent on the R104 between Kroondal and Rustenburg on Tuesday 5 April 2016. The accident occurred when a minibus and a motorcycle collided at approxi- mately 14:55. Reportedly the incident took place at the 3-way stop between the Kroondal Rd and the Arnoldistad Rd. The Motorcyclist was badly injured fol- lowing the accident and Trauma Rescue emergency services were called. Trauma Rescue arrived on scene within minutes and rushed the patient to hospital, but he was announced dead upon arrival. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased.
