14. Program wise report of the 1st quarter (January to March-2015)
15. P-3 Cluster Formation Pregnancy to 3 years aged period of children is very important. Scientifically shows that in womb brain development of a baby happens 25%. Rather, unconsciously mothers or guardians do not take proper care. As a result, wish of a healthy baby is difficult mostly in rural areas. It is a pilot program. Different action and inter actions behavior, awareness, consciousness and care massages are given through P-3 intervention to fathers by trained paid volunteers. The program covers with a Community Clinic casement area. This year 2 Unions of Gangni Upazila and 2 Unions of Mujibnagar Upazila have been brought under this intervention. A cluster is formed with 15 males every of who has a child of 0 to 3 years of age. 30 clusters have been formed in each Union of Gangni Upazila and 20 clusters have been formed in Mujibnagar Upazila. There are 100 clusters in 4 Unions of 2 Upazilas altogether. Each cluster has a volunteer who is a father himself. The volunteers will be provided with trainings. The volunteers will conduct a session with the fathers of his cluster about taking proper care of their children so that their brain and body develop well. After the first session, mobile SMS will be sent to the fathers to make them aware about taking proper care of their children. In the 1st quarter there is not any input and output indicator to report.

16. Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD)
Early Childhood Care and Development is an intervention works with 5+ and <6 years old aged children. The aim is that in this age limit it is very important of child. In this age child brain development is very need with literacy knowledge to suite in formal education systems. It is statistically proven that without minimum knowledge children do not fell interest in classes and became afraid. It causes a great dropout rate from primary education. For this, ICDP-SJ works in this area with in Meherpur. It is a key program of ICDP-SJ. 16.1 Pre-school Establishment and Opening PSKS got an established Pre-School list from Save the Childern, Meherpur, Bangaldesh. The listed pre-Schools were roll out in previous year 2014. Of them, a very few pre-schools could continue in 2015. A major reason is; Bangladesh Govt. Primary Education department develops an attention to add Pre-Primary class in every primary school. And in 2015 few school of Meherpur District went under the govt. policy. This is a great sustainability of ICDP-SJ. PSKS established a few new pre-school in 2015. The old Pre-School has a structure or class and in the year 2015 it runs. But, few pre-school are made with, wood, bamboo, bamboo slices and corrugated iron. It might damage. DIP shows a pre-school repair activity. And all new pre-School were established in GPS with helping SMC, Head teacher and CCG. Now, there are 178 pre-schools are under PSKS working area Gangni and Mujibnagar Upazila, Meherpur, Mujibnagar, Bangladesh. The detail is below:-

17.a.1 Child Reception-
Children came to school with their parents and were received by the school authority, CCG people and other influential stakeholders. They greeted and gifted children found their school a place of joy. They found their teacher and school authority to be friendly. The parents/guardians found that the school is the best place for their children. Each child was gifted with small gifts namely a pencil box with a pencil, an eraser and a sharpener. This year these small gifts were supplied by Save the Children International. The SMC and CCG provided flower garlands. They hired decoration and sound system. Child Reception was held in 212 primary schools. Child Reception is one of the events that make the primary schools a place of interest for the children who are going there for the first time. The school authorities greeted the newly admitted children in grade-1 graduated from ICDP-SJ pre-schools from somewhere else with flowers and gifts.

24. Success Story
Shishir Contributes for Children
The children of Primary and Pre-School of Gangni Municiplity, Mehepur fell risk free and safety during school
period. It is seen commonly that indecently the children of primary and pre-school fell injury or sick like fever,
coughing, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, etc. This is a long run problem and excitement. But, an ideal contribution
of Shishir CCG with necessary medicines in First Aid Kit Box makes the tension free of Primary and Pre-Schools
of Gangni Municipality.
Community Core Group (CCG) is a community action formation of ICDP-SJ. In every working area of ICDP-SJ
has the group. Shishir is name of CCG which is
locted at Gangni Women College Para under
municiplity of Gangni. It was formed in 2012.
Shishir has 8 male and 5 female members. It has
a formatted committee. And Shishir has an
institutional structure which is called Shishir
Learning Center. Since 2012 Shishir works for
children of Gangni mostly children of primary
and pre-primary schools.
Integrated Child Development Program-
Shishuder Jonno (ICDP-SJ) is implementing
since 2009 by the technical support SCI of
Sponshorship Fund. From January 2005
Palashpar Samaj Kallyan Smity (PSKS) becme
partner of SCI to implement the program in
Gangni and Mujibnagar upazilas.
ICDP-SJ has a component SHN. Under the component most of Primary Schools are provided FAK with
medicine to safety and security of Children as well as primary treatment for any illness of children. The ideology
of FAK is, the medicine will use for children and when it will be short by any kits then SMC or CCG or School
Fund will refill the Content of the FAK. The FAK has only 11 items.
Every CCG sits for bi- monthly meeting routinely. Ahsan Habib, Field Facilitator of ICDP-SJ project of
Palashipara Samaj Kallayan Samity (PSKS) attend in a bi-monthly meeting and motivated them to come forward
for children, work for children. He discussed about different role of responsibility of CCG to the Shishir’s
member. At finally they came motivated and they design a plan that they will support every pre-school and
primary school as much as they could support in Gangni Municiplity. They started to collect fund for children.
They found many individual and organizational donors who have a kind heart to contribute for children. Few of
them are-
1. Mrs. Siraj Cycle Store-Proprietor: Md. Siraj Mia, Gangni Bazar, Meherpur
2. Ma Computer and Mobile Servicing – Proprietor: Ashadul Haque Asha, Gangni Bazar, Meherpur
3. Badsha Auto- Proprietor: Badsha Mia, Hospital Bazar, Gangni, Meherpur.
4. Khadija Ashraf Foundation- Executive Director: Ashraful Islam, Gangni, Meherpur
The above benevolent person, institutions or organizations donated money and Shishir’s solder bought medicines
for FAK of Primary schools. They provided the medicines to Banshbaria Governemnt Primary School, Thana
Para Governemt Primary School, West Mashadah Government Primary School, East Mashadah Government

Banshbaria Government Primary School and Women College Para Government Primary School to fill FAK. The
headmasters of the respective primary schools received the medicines.
Doing such a heroic task, they did not stop. They inspired Bely CCG to do such social work and work for
children. Bely CCG of Shishirpara came forward to install the fan in the PPC. It provided 240 feet cable, a
switchboard, a fan regulator and
expenditure for hiring a mechanic. It had
to spend 1400 taka for this purpose.
Bely CCG was inspired by Shishir CCG
and came forward to help the children.
Md. Ashraful Alom, President of Shishir
CCG said, “We, people of Shshir CCG,
will continue to work for the betterment
of children in Gangni Municipality Area.
We will work together with other CCGs.
Shishuder Jonno Program has opened
our eyes. Abdul Mannan, the Head
master of Shishirpara New Governemnt
Primary School said, “I am grateful to
Shishir CCG and Bely CCG. They
provided a fan for our PPC. The little
children have got rid of extreme hit.
People of CCG help me different ways
to run our school. Renju Ahmed, President of Bely CCG expressed his gratefulness to all the members of Shishir
CCG and said, “Shirshir CCG did the job that should have been by us. We will create fund to help our school for
different purpose. Selina Khatun, the teacher of Shishir Para New GPS said, “My children were suffering from
extreme hit. They helped me a lot with providing the fan. CCG people are very good.” Parvina Khatun, the
mother of the PPC child Jaheda Khatun said, “My daughter didn’t want to come to school because of the extreme
hot weather. It is a benefit that the CCG people provided this fan. Now, there is no problem.”
The role of community is the most important for the sustainability of Shishuder Jonno Program.

25. Challenges
PSKS starts journey from 1st January, 2015 and completed 1st quarter (January to March). During this period
PSKS faces different kinds of challenges. In below the challenges are described.
a) New staff: PSKS recruited staff for ICDP-SJ following proper module of recruitment. The organization got
new potentials for the program. Most of them are from different organization and from different filed. To
synchronize the staff under a quilt is so difficult and ICDP-SJ faces such the challenges in the first quarter.
b) Knowledge level of new staff and training: It is true that knowledge and capability varies parson to person
and man to man. Though new staffs had previous experiences but ICDP-SJ is a different one of all project.
So, such kind of experience staff was a very few. Therefore, to understand programmatic methodology of
ICDP-SJ was great deal of challenges.
c) Continues DIP: ICDP-SJ is implementing in Meherpur since 2008. It is a roll out mood and always wants
output and outcome from implementation. DIP seeks achievement as per plan of components. But, PSKS is a
newly admire organization in ICDP-SJ. Its age is only three months. If we take a lesson from program cycle
then we will found that the beginning year is the start-up stage of a program as well as the implementing
organization. In start-up stage is thematic such as set-up or get place in working area, advocacy, building
liaison with different department of Govt. office set-up, tergate people mobilization etc. With a matured DIP,
PSKS did not catch the running bus pointing right time and right ways.
d) Lot of activity in DIP: DIP of ICDP-SJ is full with lots of activity. It is integrated with lots program. Most
of the activity gets time very tidy. This is why no any activities was gone through successive application.
e) Schedule Maintain: As per DIP and work load of staff, several times time management become complex.
f) Budgetary: The DIP of ICDP-SJ for the FY 2015 was full of mistakes between activity Vs budget. As a
result sometimes PSKS waits for a clarification from SCI.
g) Training and orientation for Staff: New staff needs training and orientation to move for field. Without
knowledge of program it was very difficult for staff to make a success journey at the early age of PSKS. Only
DIP sharing and induction meeting was held on time. For reporting M & E department did KPI and M &E
report work shop for staff.
h) Supportive approaches of SCI employee: Most of the day employee of SCI possess a superlative attention
that means that staff of PSKS is useless in ICDP-SJ. But new partner organization seeks supportive and
helping on job counselling. On the other hand, SCI seeks a sustainable partnership to sustain ICDP-SJ for
long run.
i) Advocacy: As PSKS works with new staff, the organization seeks field level introduction and advocacy in
working area and stockholders. It was a great challenge of PSKS staff in field.
j) Program overlapping: On same day there were two or three events and different components. As a result,
staff of PSKS were on moving rout.
k) Logistics and Materials: There was a great problems of logistics and material of ICDP-SJ to run with a
smart mood.
Not only the referring challenges are all; there are more challenges during the 1st quarter.
42
26. Lesson Learnt-
During the 1st three months of ICDP-SJ, there are different categories of new idea and possible future were seen.
ICDP-SJ is a time talking cate of Maherpur. In every stage, every department ICDP-SJ has a position. Now it is
took place in a round table talk of decision makers, elites or different stockholders. In below there are some points
of lesson learnt-
a) Organizational: Palashipara Samaj Kallayan Samity (PSKS) became partner for first time with Save the
Children. It is very remarkable that Save the Children works closely with PSKS. Never thinks a NGO. SCI always
tries to develop organizational capacity to lead ICDP-SJ program. Different organizational norms and values are
adjoin with PSKS gradually.
b) Operational: In operation are of ICDP-SJ, Save the Children is a brand. And Shishuder Jonno program is an
acronym of SCI in Meherpur. Being partner of SCI, PSKS works with integrity.
c) Implementation: All CCG of ICDP-SJ gradually is being compacted and takes a responsibility of ICDP-SJ. In
different core activities CCGs are actively participate and make success the events. Now, Most of the CCG refiles
FAK of primary for child security and to create risk free school environment. CCG and SMC contribute Pre-
School construction, child friendly class room decoration, electricity connection, portable water management,
school boundary wall construction etc. The slogan of Primary education for all is packing a good shape in
Meherpur. It is a gift of ICDP-SJ.
d) Visible changes: Education rate and revaluation of Education in Mehepur is a remarkable change. The rate of
Child marriage of Meherpur is decresing day by day.
e) Age appropriate intervention: ICDP-SJ has age appropriate interventions which are very effectual of
Children. We found a positive responding from target beneficiary in P-3, ECCD, CHOICE, CBHE, ASRH, FL,
AD center intervention. The teachers of Primary School remarks that Pre-Primary education operation of SJ is
very useful. The child of ECCD cam is more talent than non ECCD child. ECCD child has no frustration in
classes. They do well in examination and continues the school.
f) Social Change: Different awareness intervention of ICDP-SJ takes a lead of Social change.
g) Capacity Development- Gradually staffs of ICDP-SJ, PSKS develop their capacity through woring
environment and special positive support of SCI, Mehepur.
h) Sustainability- Observing field level responding and engagement of community people in different activity
mostly CCG and SMC, local government and different stockholders; sings ICDP-SJ will sustain.
27. Conclusion-
From 1st January to 31st March, 2015, ICDP-SJ passes a crucial time as per DIP. Most of the activity of DIP are
remain due. Palashipara Samaj Kallayan Smaity (PSKS) became a new partner with new potentials. But, adopting
such an integrated program within a short time so challengs and without any basic and technical knowledge new
staffs were in puzzle. After getting technical training of different component, gradually the situation developed
and program got backed the lost speed. Through different difficulties, PSKS tries to implement a smoother and
result oriented program. In the above detail, a brief discussion and description gets space. PSKS hopes in next
quarter the behind activities will complete. After all, different achievements and learning comes from three
months practical field work.
