Walgreens Report for Seniors is a newsletter provided by Walgreens for those who qualify, or will soon qualify, for Medicare. Specific questions regarding Medicare should be directed to your pharmacist or www.medicare.gov. Information can also be obtained

by calling 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227 or TTY 1-877-486-2048). Information provided by Walgreens is not a substitute for your own research concerning your healthcare, including Medicare.

To help you get a better understanding of Medicare Prescription Insurance, we’re dedicating another segment of the Walgreens-sponsored television program, “Health Corner,” to this important new benefit.

Be sure to tune in to the Lifetime Network Sunday, January 15, at 9:30 a.m. EST/8:30 a.m. CST to hear Dr. Lisa Thornton discuss Medicare Prescription Insurance with Dan Luce, Walgreens manager of pharmacy affairs. Dan will discuss what you should consider when choosing a Medicare Prescription Insurance plan.

While the January 15 episode of “Heath Corner” features Medicare Prescription Insurance, this fun and informative television program explores different health topics every Sunday morning on the Lifetime Network. For more details on the program, check your local listings or visit us online at www.walgreens.com/library/whctv.

If you have any other questions about Medicare Prescription Insurance, talk to your Walgreens pharmacist today, or visit us online at www.walgreens.com/medicare.

vices thaSer tServices that Save You TimeSave You Time

January is here, and for those who have enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Insurance Plan, benefits are already beginning.

One benefit of this new pro-gram is that it gives you the freedom to choose a phar-macy based on services and convenience, and not just price.

That’s because you will likely pay the same “co-pay” (or portion of the prescription cost) no matter which pharmacy you choose within your plan’s network.* What’s more, if your plan has a 90-day mail option, you can still get the same 3-month supply at Walgreens.** Rather than shop around for the lowest price — or wait for your prescriptions to arrive — you can bring your prescription cards to Walgreens and get the services and convenience you won’t find anywhere else.

A: The first open enrollment period ends May 15, 2006. It’s important you sign up before then, because plan premiums could increase by as much as 12% a year if you sign up later. If you already have insurance

through a former employer, you may be exempt from this premium increase. Talk to your current prescription in-surance provider for details.

Q: I don’t currently take many prescriptions. Why should I sign up now?

Q: What happens if I sign up for a Medicare Prescription Insurance Plan I don’t like?

A: With Medicare Prescription Insur-ance, you aren’t permanently locked into the plan you choose. In fact, during fu-ture open enrollments (from November 15 to December 31 starting next year) you can switch plans. This is especially helpful because your healthcare needs could change, and some plans may cover

more of your medications than others.

Whether you haven’t yet signed up for a plan, or you want to rethink your op-tions, the free Medicare Prescription In-surance Plan Report now available at Walgreens makes finding the right plan even easier.

Why go anywhere else?

Here’s what we mean: we have over 5,000 lo-cations nationwide, and every one of them has access to your Walgreens records. So whether you’re across town or across the country, we can fill your prescriptions. Many of our loca-tions are also open 24 hours a day, and we offer several services that were designed with our senior customers in mind: we can print your prescription instructions in large type for easy reading, and prescription bottles are easy to open when you need them to be (though if there are youngsters around, you can flip the cap over to make it child-resistant).

So if you’ve signed up, bring your card to Walgreens. If you’re still looking for a plan, we can help you find the one that’s best for you. Just ask!

Q: I haven’t signed up for a plan yet. How much time do I have?

A: Much like any other type of insurance, if you don’t need prescriptions now, you’re covered if you need them later. In other words, your healthcare needs can change, and with Medicare Prescription Insurance you’re

prepared for the unexpected. Additionally, signing up now will help you avoid paying more for premiums later — there’s a penalty for each month you delay beyond May 15 if you are then eligible for Medicare.
