Publications Regular online publications, newsletters, briefings and communications • To help edit and produce the compilation of Women’s Aid monthly e- newsletters, online bulletins and mailings and distribution of these to relevant subscribers and stakeholders. • To support the distribution of any other online briefings or mailings, as well as production if required. MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

Marketing and advertising• To assist with the marketing and promotion Women’s Aid websites and other online services, newsletters and e-bulletins and to contribute to Women’s Aid marketing strategy as required. • To upload adverts to the Women’s Aid website.

• To liaise with the Direct Services Support Officer, in relation to any publication subscriptions, website password distribution or other membership functions, as required.

Design• Working with the Digital and Publications Officer to design and create publications and materials, such as report, reviews, leaflets and posters using InDesign.

Administrative• Develop and maintain a Digital Asset Management system; collating and storing data such as keywords and tags etc. • Assist with workload planning

General responsibilities • To oversee the work of volunteers or temporary support staff as required. • To contribute to team meetings and organisational priorities, and to prepare for and participate in regular supervision and appraisal meetings. • To be flexible within the broad remit of the post. • To take direction on new projects and priorities from your line manager, which may vary from time to time. • To carry out word-processing, filing, and administrative tasks necessary to comply with the job description. • To maintain clear and adequate records of work done and to produce reports on work programmes and activities as requested by management. • To abide by organisational policies, code of conduct and practice, and to work within a framework of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. • To assist in the organisation of conferences or events organised by Women’s Aid as required. • To provide appropriate responses and support to survivors of domestic violence or specialist service providers in the delivery of this job description, as required.

Other• The job description for this post will be reviewed annually or as required to meet organisational priorities.• Based in Bristol, this job may involve occasional travel throughout England. Occasional unsociable hours are also required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: DIGITAL OFFICER

EXPERIENCEEssential:

Experience of using Wordpress or other content management systems. Experience of developing interactive elements of websites; including surveys, sign-

ups and stores. Experience of maintaining online / social media spaces and channels including

responding to interactions. Experience of developing and publishing work, including evaluating, reviewing and

developing publications and websites. Experience of marketing and promoting publications and websites. Experience of collecting analytics and data on web and social media stats, such as

Google Analytics. Writing copy for online publication including website and newsletters. Experience of using CRM systems and/or mailing software (e.g. MailChimp) to email

newsletters.

Desirable: Cataloguing and tagging of archive and databases Experience of using desktop publishing software (e.g. Adobe InDesign) and photo

editing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop)

SKILLS & ABILITIESEssential: The ability to commission / write / edit for both the web and for a journal, and to

commission / write / edit news articles Excellent writing skills. Verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at all levels

across an organisation. Ability to evaluate, review and develop publications and websites. Ability to work on several projects to deadlines in a complex, changing

environment. Proficient in Word-processing and databases, preferably in a Windows based

environment, and in using email.

Desirable Adobe InDesign and typesetting skills, and a knowledge of image-sourcing and

Adobe PhotoShop. Ability to learn on job and develop new skills/packages. Ability to create copy for use in media.

KNOWLEDGEEssential:

Ability to work sympathetically and appropriately with survivors of domestic violence and specialist service providers

An understanding of the issues involved in publicising and presenting a sensitive subject like domestic violence to the public and media.

An understanding of the principles and practices of marketing.

Desirable An understanding of the experiences, needs and effects of domestic violence on

women and children.

SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Terms of appointment: Confirmation of appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. This will normally be of six months (less for short term contracts). During this time an employee will be expected to establish their suitability for the post. During the probationary period employment may be terminated in writing, giving one week's notice by either party (this may be waived by mutual agreement). Only any statutory dismissal procedure will apply during the probationary period. There is no probationary period for contracts of under 3 months.

Salary: £22,219 - £25,346 (On an incremental scale guided by the WA scale points 25-29) + benefits. Salary is paid in arrears through bank credit by the 25th of each month. Part time staff receive pro-rata payment based on hours worked.

Working hours: The standard working hours for this post are 37 hours per week, based in Bristol; benefits include a generous bank holidays and annual leave package and contributory pension scheme.

Support and supervision: Women’s Aid has a commitment to providing regular supervision and support to staff with annual appraisals forming a key part of staff development. We have a training policy in place and encourage staff to take an active role in their career development plan. Pension: Women’s Aid is enrolled with the People’s Pension scheme. Women’s Aid normally contributes 7% of salary and the employee contributes 3% towards the group pension scheme. Eligible staff will be automatically enrolled on the scheme when they have successfully completed the 3 month interim probationary review. .

Annual Leave: Women’s Aid offers an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year rising by one day per year until 30 days annual leave per year is reached. In addition, we offer 8 days public holidays plus 2 additional days in March and August. All leave entitlement is calculated pro-rata for part time employees.

Other leave: Employees have contractual rights to time off for reasons of sickness, maternity and other circumstances.

Period of notice: 1 month after your probationary period has been completed.

Union: You have a right to membership of a trade union. Women’s Aid recognises Unison.

Asylum and Immigration Act 1996: To confirm your right to work in the UK, Women’s Aid will need to see the original of at least one document from a specified list (available on the gov.uk website). Most commonly this is a British Passport.
