GENERAL RULES OF COMPETITION1. Competitive classes, except where otherwise stated, are open to all comers. Stock must be the bona fide property

of the exhibitor, and in his actual possession for at least sixty days prior to the date of the Show.

2. Where reference is made to ANGUS, this will be taken as the old county of Angus.

3. Animals suffering from any form of contagious or infectious disease must not be brought to the Show.

4. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry they may think fit to exclude, to cancel any entry made, or to prohibit the exhibition of any entry.

5. STOCK NOT IN THE PRINTED CATALOGUE may not compete, unless it can be shown that such omission has not been occasioned by the exhibitor. SUBSTITUTION OF NAMED ENTRIES IN ANY SECTION WILL NOT BE PERMITTED, and should there be any such substitution, any resulting award will be forfeited. This is with the exception of Light Legged Horses entering on the day

6. Exhibitors must enter stock to be shown by sending signed entry forms to the Secretary. IT IS SPECIALLY REQUESTED THAT THE PEDIGREE OF ALL PURE BRED CATTLE AND HORSES (WHERE KNOWN) BE SHOWN.

7. Animals entered in stock classes will be allowed to compete in more than one class, unless where stated otherwise, provided that this does not result in any delay in the judging.

8. Orders for admission to the Showground will be sent to exhibitors by the Secretary as soon as the catalogue is completed. UNLESS AN ORDER FOR EACH LOT IS PRODUCED AT THE STOCK GATE ON THE MORNING OF THE SHOW NO ADMISSION WILL BE ALLOWED.

9. Stock must be placed in the Showground at least half-an-hour before the advertised time of judging, and may not be removed before 4.30 p.m.

10. All stock on the showground is subject to the control, and is under the orders of the Show Officials. Such stock may not be withdrawn from competition without the consent of the committee.

11. Bulls must be properly secured, by a ring in the nose with a chain or rope attached, or by strong halters and double ropes.

12. The Angus Agricultural Association is not responsible for any loss or damage to exhibits at or in transit to or from the Show or within showground. All livestock & horses are sole responsibility of owners. Exhibitors park at their own risk within showground. Exhibitors must take their own risk of the pens, bughts and stalls provided by the Association, and will be held to have satisfied themselves as to the sufficiency thereof before their stock is stalled. Any exhibitor may, at his own expense, erect a special stall or pen, provided that it is approved by the Committee and on the understanding that permission is sought from and given by the Secretary fourteen days prior to the Show.

13. NO MEMBER WHO IS IN ARREARS WITH HIS SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR ANY OF THE PREMIUMS GIVEN UNDER THE SANCTION OF THE ANGUS AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY THE NECESSARY ENTRY MONEY.

14. Any exhibitor found wilfully making false statements in connection with entries of stock for competition will be debarred from competition. Should the exhibitor be a member of the Association, such action will render him liable to expulsion from membership.

15. All persons in charge of stock or other exhibits, together with everyone admitted to the Showground, are subject to the rules of the Association, and will obey the orders of the Secretary, the stewards and other officials of the Association. Exhibitors will be answerable for the conduct of their servants and representatives. The stewards and other officials have power to enforce the regulations of the Association in their designated departments.

16. Anyone making insulting remarks to, or in any way interfering with, the judges, stewards or other officials while in the performance of their duties; any exhibitor or other persons in charge of stock in the judging ring refusing to accept or display prize tickets, rosettes, etc., awarded by the judges and handed to them by the stewards or other officials; any exhibitor or other person in charge of stock tearing up such prize tickets or rosettes handed to them or indulging in similar conduct will be considered guilty of misconduct, and will be dealt with under these rules.

17 Violation of any of these regulations will render the offending person liable to forfeiture of all prizes awarded to him, or of such portion as the committee may ordain, to disqualification from again exhibiting at any future Angus Show and to expulsion from membership of the Association.

18. Judges are instructed not to award prizes to inferior stock, or to animals that are not considered to be pure bred also to reject all breeding animals which they consider to be overfed.

19. The Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge in place of one who may not be able to be present; to appoint additional judges and to cancel or make alterations to the appointed list.

20. Unless there are more exhibits than prizes in any class, the last or other prizes may be withdrawn.

The selling of goods by auction, shouting or any other behaviour calculated to annoy visitors or exhibitors is strictly forbidden. ANYONE INFRINGING THIS RULE WILL IMMEDIATELY, WITH HIS GOODS, BE REMOVED FROM THE SHOWGROUND.

35. Standholders are responsible for providing sufficient receptacles for litter on their own stand. Any litter left at the stand after the Show must be placed in a container for each collection.

37. Any fuel used by an exhibitor must be smokeless.

38. The Angus Agricultural Association will not be responsible for any accident which may occur in connection with any implement or other article belonging to a Trade Exhibitor. It is a condition of entry that exhibitors will hold the Association blameless, and indemnify it against any legal proceedings which may arise from an accident caused by any of their exhibits.

39. No Stand will be dismantled, or have materials or goods removed, until after 5 p.m.

SHEEP GUIDANCE FOR SHEEP & GOAT SHOW EXHIBITORS

The Show C.P.H. number is 67/084/8007

It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure all documentation is completed as per the regulations advised by SAMU.

KEEPERS Keepers sending stock to shows will now need to complete two movement documents, one for the journey to the show and one for the return journey, regardless of the length of time spent at the show.

The movement documents to and from the show must be completed by the keeper of the animals - the same way as movement documents would be completed for stock moving to seasonal grazing locations. The white copy of each form should be sent to SAMU with the pink & yellow copies being retained by the keeper.

The completion of the movement document is entirely the responsibility of the keeper showing the stock and it is their responsibility to return the forms to SAMU. The form will require the CPH number of the show to be completed correctly and all livestock entrants should be made aware of the CPH number in advance of the show.

SUMMARYKeepers sending sheep to shows will be required to fill in, and return a sheep and goat movement document for the journey to the show and one for the return journey, regardless of the duration of the show.

Individual ear tag numbers are not required on the movement document

The keeper showing the animals is responsible for the completion and return of the movement document to SAMU.

The new document only has room for the destination holding number and not the address. The name and/or address are not acceptable it must be the holding number that is filled in here.

MAEDI VISNA All M.V. accredited sheep must be accompanied by a current and valid M.V. certificate andmust be handed to the steward of that particular breed before any animal is unloaded onto the show field.
