How does this award program work?How does this award program work?

Winners will be based on figures from the semiannual reports and new member report forms received by RI by 24 May 2002.

Starting figures for each district will be based on the July 2001 semiannual reports received by RI by September 2001.

50 districts will be winners.

Shortly after 24 May 2002, the figures for all districts worldwide will be reviewed to determine which ones have achieved the highest percentage net gain in membership.

At least one winning district will be recognized from each zone, provided the district has achieved the minimum average net growth of five members per club.

The district with the largest net gain will be named the overall world winner.

100 clubs will be winners.

The 100 clubs that achieve the greatest net growth will also be recognized.

The top two clubs in each zone will be designated as club winners, to account for 68 of the 100 winners.

To keep the competition more evenly matched, the clubs will be divided into two categories:

clubs with fewer than 50 members and clubs with 50 or more members as of 1 July 2001.

The remaining 32 club winners will be selected based on net growth – regardless of club size.

Outstanding clubs and districts will receive a globe of the world made of semiprecious stones.

At the 2002 RI Convention in Barcelona, Spain, President Rick King will invite the presidents of the most outstanding winning clubs and governors of the most outstanding winning districts to join him on stage for special recognition.

In addition, the district governors from the top five world winning districts and the club presidents from the top ten world winning clubs will be invited, along with their spouses, to attend the RI Convention in Barcelona, Spain, at Rotary’s expense, including airfare, room, meals, and registration.

These world winners will receive special recognition on stage.

Districts will identify the “District Global Quest” winner.

Each district will be encouraged to conduct a membership competition at the district level. The name of each club that wins the District Global Quest will be published by R.I and highlighted at the RI Convention in Barcelona, Spain.

This strategy will help clubs find young leaders to become members. Each club in the district will honor three future leaders in two age groups:

• (Group 1) 20 to 29 years and • (Group 2) 30 to 35 years.

These six future leaders will become honorary members and will be asked to recommend (after study) the most pressing needs in their community.

The club will then develop projects to address the identified community needs. After six months, the honorary members will be asked to join Rotary as active members.
