Phoenix College Bears 2012 Football Media Guide

President’s WelcomePhoenix College has provided outstanding teaching and learning experiences for over 92 years, resulting in our students’ success in the classroom, on the field, and far beyond. A rich history and a cutting-edge learning environment coexist at PC, providing students with a unique campus experience that is second to none.

Intercollegiate athletics programs have long been a vital part of PC’s mission. Phoenix College student athletes participate in the Student Athlete Scholastic Success Program, receiving mentorship and advisement from coaches, administration, and faculty as they strive to reach their academic goals. The program has resulted in stellar outcomes:

The Phoenix College Softball team won the 2012 NJCAA Division II National Softball Championship, marking the 9th national championship for the Bears. PC Softball Coach Heinz Mueller achieved his 1,000th win, becoming one of only three NJCAA softball coaches to reach that milestone.

Four Phoenix College student athletes earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-American honors in 2011-2012 with a GPA of 3.76 or higher.

Three PC athletic teams were designated NJCAA All Academic Teams: Baseball 3.12 GPA, Volleyball 3.29 GPA, and Women’s Basketball 3.40 GPA.

During 2011-2012, 54 Phoenix College student athletes signed on to continue their athletic and academic pursuits at the university level.

We take great pride in the fact that Phoenix College is a place where people of every age and background come to discover new interests, explore new careers, or begin new paths. Here at PC, they find a combination of expert instruction, support services and unique opportunities that allow them to achieve great things. Thank you for supporting our outstanding student athletes in their academic and athletic pursuits.

Go Bears!

2012 Coaching Staff

Jerome Daniels Interim Head Coach

The Phoenix College football team is set to start its season this year under interim Head Coach Jerome Daniels, who had served as the team’s offensive line coach last year .

Coach Daniels was a three-year starting tackle at Northeastern

University and a first-team All-American . He was the first player in Northeastern history to play and start in the East-West Shrine game . Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1997, Coach Daniels

played for the Baltimore Ravens and then started at guard for the Arizona Cardinals .

He retired from pro football in 2004 after tearing his patella tendon and began his coaching career at Mesa Community College in 2009, where he was the offensive line coach .

Although the Bears’ 2011 season produced a disappointing 2-9 record, nearly 20 players transferred to 4-year colleges and universities on a football scholarship . In the past two years, 37 players have moved on to four-year institutions .

Two football players from the 2011-2012 team were named Academic All-Americans .

Virginia Auto Service is the best. The people are always

friendly and polite. The work is thorough. I've never had to bring

back my car for something that was not done well. They always

keep me updated on the status of the repair & how it will affect the

cost. They even offer rides to work or home when needed. I would

refer them to anyone.

TERRIFIC SERVICE! *PRESENT THIS PROGRAM AND RECEIVE
