•Integrating technologies depending on serviced areas
•Current trend “End users are looking more data”
•Data consumed more bandwidth hence more money.
•Powerline Networking infrastructure can integrate different cities, municipality in different African Countries. For example when we are talking a teledensity of 1.42 in Tanzania Electricity is 10%.

Current Trends in Powerline Communication
•Open PLC European Research Alliance (OPERA) Project target (200Mbps in the second phase): Strategic objective of OPERA project is to offer low cost broadband access services to all European citizens using PLC. First phase (2004-2005). Standard and compatibility.•PLC Commercial Deployment of Iberdrola: PLC600 offers up to 600kbps upstream and up to 600kbps downstream with tariff competing with ADSL tariff for the 256/128kbps services.•PLC Commercial Deployment of ENDESA (20Mbps VoPLC) have covered 20,000 homes in Spain, Internet Access over 2Mbps. PLC cost competitive with ADSL.•PLC technology of DS2. 1st generation 45Mbps, now DSS900X is a 200Mbps Digital Modem ICs.•High Speed Powerline Communication Network by Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) is (2Mbps-45Mbps)

Can already developed solutions in powerline suite the environment of African
Countries?•No it needs modifications in the PLC of developing countries to be able to implement PLC solutions.
•The study of Network behaviour, Measurements of network is needed to be able to implement a PLC solution.
PLC is affected by• Number of Customers Connected per feeder (Interconnection)• Topology of PLC which is different from developed countries.•Distances•Overhead and separation of cables makes channel characterization to be different it needs study before implementation of actual solution.

Tanzania.•Our Aim is to have a Pilot project of Powerline Communication in Tanzania with the AIM of “ICT Accessibility for all with Electricity”.•We have identified the areas whereby most of Cities like Mwanza and Municipality such as Iringa, Mbeya and Others where PLC solution can be Implemented• PLC can be deployed and Many users be Connected to world Internet and making calls •We have Communicated with Industries such as Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) to see the possibility of Taking our results and develop PLC for Tanzania.•We are looking other Companies and donors to extend the PLC project and make the Powerline communication real in Tanzania.
