Greyhound racing at Sandown
Park in Melbourne tonight
features the running of the
world’s richest greyhound race,
the $420,000 to the winner TAB
Melbourne Cup.
According to the experts, it’s all
over already with Shootout
winner Zambora Brockie a $2.00
fixed odds favourite to win.
Only two of the runners at $10.00
or better shows just how even the
field is.
Have a look at our history of the
great race, starting on page 12.

MELBOURNE CUP 2016 is as good as run and won
according to the experts, who with only a couple of
excpetions expect Shootout winner Zambora Brockie
to win, with a wide range of selections to fill the
places.
If he does everything right he should win,
based on times he has a slender margin on Outside
Pass, who hasn’t been done any favours by the box
draw.
If Zambora Brockie has any sort of luck in the
first 200 metres, whoever leads could just be giving
him something to chase and run down.
I don’t know the answer, as I’ve said many
times, I don’t pretend to be a great tipster or form
analyst, preferring to concentrate on breeding.
Forced to have a pick I would probably take
the risk on Outside Pass getting across to lead and
prove extremely hard for Zambora Brockie to run
down, with Worm Burner and Ando’s Mac place
chances.
Last week I promised to tell you my favourite
Melbourne Cup winner, so can now reveal it is 2003
winner Bombastic Shiraz.
Bombastic Shiraz (March 2001 Black Shiraz x
Bombastic Blonde)
remains the only
greyhound to win the
Triple Crown, The
Melbourne Cup, Sandown
Shootout and the Topgun
in 2003.
He went on to a fantastic
career at stud, producing
the likes of Miata, Cindeen Shelby, Flashing Floods,
Velocette, Bobby Boucheau, Snozz, Spud Regis,
Lochinvar Marlow, Kiss Me Katut, Miss Slick, Bit
Chili, Regal Thyme, Did I Entertain, Aston Galilee,
Cintiarna, Bookkeeper, Godsend, Ima Geisha Girl,
Alpe D’Huez, Aston Elle, Spring Gun, Nitro Burst,
Tifi, Lord Ducal, Fabregas, Sure As, Nana Cook and
many more.
His name comes up so many times, every
week, in our litter registration reviews, and will
continue to do so for many years through the deeds
of his long list of talented offspring.

TALKING BREEDING
Continued……
Their dam, Tasman Queen also produced winners from
both of her other litters, whelped in May 2009 by Big
Daddy Cool and July 2011 by Hurricane Luke.
Fire Stricker was lightly raced, with her 13 starts
resulting in a win over 450 metres at Shepparton
(26.19), where she was also placed twice and placed
over 390 metres, with additional placings over 425
metres and 500 metres at Bendigo.
Her breeding career got off to a great start, with
ten named from her first litter, all winners, Dougies
Cactus, Jodie’s Knee, Omamori, Sonnys Tas, Tat Bazza,
Tat Duke, Tat Jocko, Tat Monnie, Tat Molly and
Wolfpack, who were whelped in February 2013 by
Cosmic Rumble.
She has since whelped a litter of five dogs and five
bitches, born in March 2013, by Barcia Bale.
Exciting litter NEXT we have a nice litter of eight pups by the
consistently successful sire, Bekim Bale (October 2009
Bartrim Bale x Amelia Bale).
Registered by Woddleigh breeder, Cassandra
James, for the James Family syndicate, the three dogs
and five bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Paua
To Excite (November 2011 El Grand Senor x Paua To
Terrify), whose dam is by Spiral Nikita* x Paua To
Burn (Awesome Assassin x Alice Cooley).
She is from a litter which included Critical Path,
Disappear, Kingburi, Paua To Charge, Paua To Thrill,
Senor Pete and To Seven Eleven.
Their dam, Paua To Terrify, also produced
winners from each of her four other litters, by Barcia
Bale, Fabregas, Fear Zafonic* and Knocka Norris.
On the track, Paua To Excite raced 23 times for
the good record of nine wins and two placings, winning
twice over 400 metres at Warragul (22.71), with single
wins over 300 metres (16.89) and 350 metres (19.56) at
Healesville, 450 metres at Shepparton (25.42), 425
metres at Bendigo (25.42), 390 metres at Ballarat
(22.24), 400 metres at Geelong (22.49) and 520 metres
at Dapto (30.28).
She has one previous litter on file, five dogs and three
bitches, whelped in August 2015 by Goodesy.
Magic Litter
HAZELWOOD breeder, Sandra Collins has a lovely
litter of nine pups on the list this week, by 2013
Melbourne Cup winner, Black Magic Opal (May 2011
Magic Sprite x Awesome Opal).
The five dogs and four bitches in the litter are
from the very well bred, Group 1 winner, Cintiarna
(October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Hello Sienna), whose
dam is by Bond x Hello Gal (Galilee* x Hello Kate).
She is from a handy litter, which included Cuzin
Bob, Hello Good Bye, Hot Wine, Kaamana, Kimetski,
Willola, Let’s Say Hello and Sweet Sun, with their dam,
Hello Sienna, producing some good winners from her
four other litters, by Barcia Bale, Bekim Bale, Premier
Fantasy* and Pure Octane.
Cintiarna raced 58 times for the very good record
of 23 wins and 14 placings, winning five times over 515
metres at Sandown (29.34), where she also won over
595 metres (34.20), four times over 525 metres at The
Meadows (29.76), where she also won twice over 600
metres (34.33), five times over 520 metres at
Cranbourne (29.83), twice over 520 metres at Geelong
(30.03), twice over 515 metres at Angle Park (29.53)
and also over 513 metres at Traralgon (29.76) and 530
metres at Canberra (30.50).
She won the Group 1 Temlee at The Meadows
(29.76) and was a finalist three times at Group level, in
the Group 1 Australian Cup, Group 2 Laurels and Group
3 Canberra Cup.
She has some good winners on file from her first
litter, whelped in May 2014 by Barcia Bale, which
included Even Keel, Miss Cintiarna, Receptive, Rubica,
Rhyan’s Request, Segovia and Tycore Lad.
Her second litter, whelped in February 2015, by
Djays Octane*, produced six dogs and three bitches, so
she certainly has some well bred youngsters on the
ground to follow up the success of her first litter.

Nine for Hooksy TATURA BREEDER, Maxwell Auld has our next litter
for review, which is a nice litter of nine pups by well
bred, under-rated stud prospect, Hooksy (March 2012

The five dogs and four bitches are from the
beautifully bred bitch, Lavana (January 2009 Collision
x Token Whiz), whose dam is by Token Prince x Little
Whiz (Light Of Fire x Grove Whiz) and worth
recalling, Grove Whiz is by Grove Whisper* x Gee
Whiz (Tempix x Marungi Band).
Lavana is from a handy litter, which included
Erosion, Grace Hill, Have A Yap, Mr Meana, No
Repayments and Sultan Sea.
Their dam, Token Whiz also produced some very
good winners from each of her five other litters, by
Bombastic Shiraz, Dyna Lachlan, Kiowa Sweet Trey*,
Premier Fantasy* and Where’s Pedro.
On the track she raced 81 times for the handy
record of 12 wins and 27 placings, winning six times
over 720 metres at Wentworth Park (42.33), where she
also won over 520 metres (31.02), three times over 600
metres at Dapto (34.63), where she also won over 520
metres (30.18) and won over 695 metres at Bulli
(37.90).
She was a finalist in the 2012 Group 1
Association Cup at Wentworth Park and was a model of
consistency through her career, as evidenced by her 12
wins and 27 placings.
She has produced some very good winners from
her first litter, whelped in January 2013 by College
Causeway*, which included Abbie’s Girl, Beyond
Rapid, College Boyz, Elbow Room, Majak Attack,
Palm Tee, Urban Chic and Wallen Joe.
She has five named offspring on file from her

October 2014 by Cosmic Rumble and they are, Beltorn,
Findiesel, Scott Cosmic, Scott Seoul and Weldun Sun.
Two Kinloch Brae litters TWO nice litters on the list this week by international
stud success, Kinloch Brae* (August 2005 Craigie Mo
Town x Greys Free Style).
Longlea breeder, Ian Harland has the first of the
two litters, which has six dogs and three bitches, from

her dam’s five other litters, by Bombastic Shiraz, Dyna
Lachlan, Hallucinate, Meticulous and Turanza Bale.
Wicked Princess has one named offspring on file,
Boston Flyer, who is from her litter of six dogs and four
bitches, by Cosmic Rumble, whelped in January 2015.
Elliminyt breeder, Ross Brook has the other

bitches, from another beautifully bred bitch, Witch On

Burgundy (Royal Assassin x Minnesota Babe) and
worth recalling, Minnesota babe is by the successful
imported sire, Balligari* x Gravel Rash (Brother Fox x
Gumahah).
She is from a very good litter of eleven named,
which included, Double Jeopardy, Eagle Returns, Full
Noise Turbo, Innocent Baby, Karanii, Kasundi,
Maximum Reality, Midnight Poison, Riley Mak, and
Wild Pixie.
Interesting looking through that list of her litter
mates, Full Noise Turbo had a winning double at
Sandown last Sunday (see results page 6) with Vostok
and Hit The Highway, who are from her litter by Oaks
Road.
Sionara Baby also has winners on file from her

NSW Whelping Report
TURNING our attention to the NSW Whelping Report
For the week ending July 17, we start of review of the
four litters, with two litters by top Victorian
metropolitan sire Barcia Bale (March 2010 Go Wild

plenty of interest from potential buyers with future
breeding in mind, with the one dog and seven bitches,
from the beautifully bred bitch, Glama Pak (March 2011
(Where’s Pedro x Tifi), whose dam is by Bombastic
Shiraz x Chili Berger (Elle’s Commando x Alice
Dooley).
She is from her dam’s first Where’s Pedro litter,
which included Double Twist, Mr. Tif, Saint Tifi,
Somebody Tifi, Stiff Arm, Tifi For Me and Where’s
Tifi.
Their consistent producing dam, Tifi, has three
named offspring on file from her second Where’s Pedro

on file from her three other litters, whelped in May 2010
and December 2012 by Collision and January 2012 by
Mogambo.
Glama Pak raced 35 times for 13 wins and five
placings, winning six times over 520 metres at Dapto

(34.67), three times over 515 metres at Gosford (29.76)

other Barcia Bale litter, which has two dogs and four
bitches, from the very well bred, imported bitch,
Razldazl Mookai (April 2013 Kinloch Brae* x Razldazl
Alice), whose dam is by Razldazl Billy x Razldazl Pearl
(Larkhill Jo x Lughill Rose).
Razldazl Mookai raced
only once, over 460 metres at
Geelong in July, 2015 when
unplaced.
Her dam has produced
winners from two Kinloch
Brae* litters and another, by
Royal Impact.
Magic litter LEMON TREE breeder, Morgan Fenwick-Benjes has
our next litter for review, which has nine pups by
recently retired, champion sprinter, Dyna Double One
(March 2013 Barcia Bale x Crystin Bale).
The six dogs and three bitches are from the well
bred bitch, Kwik Magic (November 2009 Surf Lorian x
Super Toots), whose dam is by Go Wild Teddy x Burn
The Turn (Light Of Fire x Azz I Fly).
She is from a litter of five named, which included
Miss Maud, Sunday Silence, Super Turn and Sirfin’
Blue, with their dam also producing winners from her
other litters on file, by Knocka Norris, Oh Watta Nite
and Vee Man Vane.
On the track she raced 21 times for one win and
eight placings, winning over 315 metres at
Coonabarabran, with placings there, and also over 400
metres at The Gardens, 450 metres at Maitland, 400
metres at Gosford, 301 metres at Coonamble, 302
metres at Moree and 311 metres at Mudgee.
She has one named offspring, Supreme Marlo,
from her October 2014 litter of four bitch pups, by
Knocka Norris.
Four for Eliza DUBBO breeder, Charmaine Roberts has our final litter
for review this week, which had three dogs and one
bitch, by Fernando Bale (March 2013 Kelsos Fusileer*
x Chloe Allen), from the well bred bitch Eliza Blanche

is by Bombastic Shiraz x Call Me Cash (Brett Lee x
Duel).
She is from a litter of five named, which included
Radley Return, Radley’s Jackpot, Steelie Princess and
Truly Unique, with the dam producing winners from
both of her other litters, whelped in October 2011 by El

over 600 metres (34.19) and finished third in the Group
1 Hume Cup, three times over 520 metres at

UNLIKE the Group 1 Melbourne Cup final, the Bold
Trease Final it a little more open and the winner looks
even harder to find.
The experts are divided in their opinion between
It’s A Bird, Ramifications and Jaimandy Hatty.
The interesting runner in the race is Caco Potion
(December 2013 Kilty Lad x Shifty Mifty), whose dam
is by Paddy’s Flame x Perfect Coctail (Big Daddy Cool
x Cawbourne Smokey).
He is from his dam’s only litter to date, which
includes Kilty Conscience, Mendacious Lad, My
Name’s Shultz, Shifty Joshua and Showgirl Miss, all
handy short course sprinters, like their dam.
Shifty Mifty raced 79 times for 11 wins and 26
placings, but 400 metres was as far as she was
comfortable with.
Kilty Lad has thrown a few middle distance and
700 metre plus winners, but the majority of his winners
have been smart 515 to 525 metre winners, like the
brilliant Kayda Shae, Kilty Express, Kiltah Magic,
Crackerjack Max, and Crackerjack Burn.
Caco Potion is the only greyhound in the kennel
of his young trainer, Stefano Cassar, and to date he has
raced 47 times for nine wins and 16 placings.
His 42.19 heat win was only his second start over
715 metres, after striking plenty of trouble in his first
start there over the distance on October 6, when sixth,
beaten eight lengths, but he is sure to improve on last
week’s run, and looks to have an outside chance in the
race, appealing at the $15 on offer early in the week.
The Bold Trease Honour Roll
The Bold Trease is named
after Australia’s greatest
stayer ever.
Bold Trease (March 1984
Roy Trease x Irish
Temptress), whose dam was
by the great Benjamin John
x Court Rosie (Venetion Court x Karossie), who won
four consecutive Sandown Cups from 1986 to 1989, a
feat which is never likely to be achieved again.
He was just an absolute freak stayer, the likes of which
has not been since, maybe never will. Roger Clark

Continued
The late, great greyhound administrator Henry Harrison, with the 1978 Melbourne Cup.
Henry Harrison’s greyhound racing passion dates back
to the 1920s, initially as a typical punter and owner-
breeder. He witnessed his first Melbourne Cup, in the
proprietary days of the sport, at Napier Park in 1927.
When the race shifted to Sandown Park in 1956,
with the introduction of the tin hare, Harrison was a
powerful force in developing its status.
Harrison was appointed to the Sandown Grey-
hound Racing Club committee in 1959 and elected
chairman in 1964, a position he held for 23 years.
His son-in-law Geoff Dawson (the incumbent
SGRC chairman, who was elected following Harri-
son’s retirement from the club’s directorate in 1987)
recalls the first time he met a giant among men – and
set eyes on his daughter Loretta, who later became his
wife. “I was a harness bookmaker’s runner at the
Showgrounds in the early 1950s. I went around the
back of the grandstand and Henry was there with his
daughter Loretta. I thought ‘she’s not a bad sort’, so I
kept going around the back to put some more bets on.”
Harrison’s greatest achievement, in Dawson’s
opinion, was the negotiation of TAB coverage for
greyhound racing through his powerful connections in
the racing industry and with high ranking state politi-
cians. “He was extremely convincing, and I don’t think
the SGRC would be here today without his influence,”
Dawson said. “He even purchased a thoroughbred
from Sir Chester Manifold, just to speak to him about
his main objective: getting the tote for the grey-
hounds.”
Henry was a very fair and genuine person. He
loved his family; he was a real honourable man,” Daw-
son said. Henry Harrison passed away peacefully in his
sleep on Sunday September 18, 2005 - aged 91.

Vale Stewart Muir
It is with great sadness that Greyhound Racing
Victoria announces that long time Horsham
Greyhound Racing Club and GRV employee
Stewart Muir lost his battle with illness on
Wednesday November 2.
Stewart was employed as a Club Steward for
many years at the Horsham GRC before starting as a
casual Steward with GRV in the early 1990s, a role he
held for over 25 years.
A highly respected member of the Horsham
community and within the greyhound racing industry,
Stewart was considered a great colleague and friend
to many within the industry and all that met him were
blessed by his incredibly sweet, warm and gentle
nature, sense of humour and intellect.
He will be sadly missed.
Our deepest thoughts go out to his wife Cheryl and
children. A service was held on Tuesday, November
8, at the Horsham Uniting Church.

performances.
CRUMP’S ROSE
(Black bitch, December 2014 Crump x Inside Trader)
Trained at Lara by Jessica Sharp, has only raced six
times for a win and one placing.
Won over 400 metres at Geelong, November 8, by
1.34 lengths over Snow Osti, in 22.67, before stepping
up in class and distance when finished a luckless last
over 515 metres at Sandown (SAP) in the race won by
Extreme Magic (29.71).
She will be all the better for the experience of that
run and won’t be long winning again.
MISS MORRISSET
(Black bitch, February 2015 Premier Fantasy* x
Where’s Demonica).
Trained at Lara by David Geall and shows
promise after ten starts for three wins and three
placings.
Won from box 6 over 460 metres at Geelong on
October 14 (25.52) before fourth and fifth over 450
metres at Shepparton.
Stepped up to 515 metres at Sandown (SAP), box
three when third in the race won by Hit The Highway
(29.77), beaten 4.5 lengths.
Good effort and will be better for the run over that
distance.
READY TO MINGLE
(White and black bitch, January 2015 Jagger Swagger x
Oh So Sweet).
Trained at Raymond Barkla, at Virginia in SA and
raced for the first time on November 11, over 388
metres at Angle Park.
Came from box three and proved too good for
Sandy Lagoon and another first starter Tyla Grace,
running 22.51.
Good first up and should add to that success
before too long, well done Raymond.
