NOTE:Lot451ALOIS KRACHER MAGNUM COLLECTION (9 x 1.5 L) Alois Kracher is one of the world’s great sweet wine makers. The area around Austria’s Neusiedler See has long produced some of Europe’s greatest sweet wines. But in 1985, a ring of unscrupulous producers were caught doctoring their wines—and the scandal wiped out that noble tradition in a heartbeat.A savior was needed desperately, and six years later he appeared under the name Alois Kracher. In just one vintage, 1991, Kracher restored Austria to the pantheon of great dessert wine producers; and he single-handedly kept it there for nearly two decades. But on December 5, 2007, Kracher died at age 48, leaving his son Gerhard to carry on his important work.We offer a full set of nine classic Kracher wines (Magnums), each of which is a profound reflection of this great man’s genius. This is one of just 32 sets produced and includes the following bottles in a beautiful wooden display case:
