Welcome Back!UDL Academy

Session 6Academy Cohort 1

April 12, 2013

Goals for today

• To develop your plan to design 3 lessons using UDL Exchange

• To refine, build expertise & resources around UDL Implementation

UDL Implementation Process

Warm up: Tale of 4 districts

National Center on UDL: Implementation

Work with partner district to deconstruct one of the stories

– How did district identify or define their goal(s)?

– How did district support teachers? How could this help them plan lessons?

– What resources did district administrators have to identify to support integration of UDL?

Reflect:How is the district similar to yours?

Consider the demands and resources (for example, what structures do you already have in place)?

How can you apply what you learned to your own district plan?

Share ideas with whole group

Oh, the places you will go…

• Create a visual representation of your action plan’s paths/roads/waterways/galactic highways from the past month.

• Respond to questions on protocol when creating it.

Some introductory questions

• What was your team goal (destination)?

• What did your path(s)/road(s)/waterway(s)/highway(s) look like?– direct path(s)– curvy– double-back(s)– full of hairpin turns– anything else

Additional questions

• What benchmarks did you experience during your trip?– stopping to give a presentation– stopping to regroup with your team– pausing to reflect on your progress– anything else

Additional questions

• Who did you meet along the way?

• Did everyone use the same path/road/waterway/highway?

• Did you offer team members options for reaching the goal?

• What road signs along to way guided your travels?
