The Five by Five program continues to flourish, and this year is no exception. Our partnerships have expanded to 21 cultural facilities with two new additions, the Colorado Railroad Museum and the Robert and Judi Newman Center at University of Denver.Our cultural partners recognize, as I do, that rich and diverse experiences build a strong foundation for future learning. These occasions open the door for you to have meaningful conversations with your children and support their development of social and academic skills – tools they will need to successfully transition into kindergarten and beyond. I encourage you to use this guide to plan educational and interactive activities for your entire family. When you visit cultural facilities together, the whole family can experience, firsthand, how impactful and valuable our cultural institutions can be. All of our interactive exhibits and programs are designed by early childhood experts to stimulate creativity, problem-solving, independence and critical thinking. Observe your child playing in the Museum. You will see them using language to express ideas, experimenting and activating their imagination. Adults can play, too! Five by Five families receive a free annual family membership so that every member of the family can experience all the interactive exhibits and programs at the Children’s Museum at no cost.

Come and take a splash in the pool with Denver Parks & Recreation’s 15 indoor and 16 outdoor seasonal swimming pools. Five by Five families can swim for free during open swim times. Some sites may have a separate entry to the pool. Your Five by Five card also offers one free session of swimming lessons to the Five by Five card holder at either an indoor or outdoor pool. Each swimming session includes 8 lessons at the preschool level age 3-5yrs. Parents can register for lessons online at www.denvergov.org/recreation or in person at any DPR recreation center.

The former home of the late Dr. Justina Ford. She was the first licensed Black Female physician in the State of Colorado. Come see artifacts from cowboys, Homesteaders from Dearfield Colony, and some original pictures of Early Five Points. We also have small group interaction activities with coloring pages, crossword puzzles, beads and fabric. (adult supervision is required.)

Elsewhere in the Gardens, you can stimulate your senses in the Sensory Garden, visit the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory and relax in the Japanese Garden. The Science Pyramid illustrates the science behind the Gardens with hands-on exhibits in English and Spanish. Five by Five families receive a free plant to take home with them during their first visit.
El jardin de tres acres; Mordecai Children’s Garden es un oasis en el que los niños y las familias pueden explorar el mundo natural. Boo at the Zoo is a free Event that takes place in October which Five by Five families can attend with daytime admission. The Denver Zoo offers exciting interactive exhibits, such as, “Be a Zookeeper Zone,” which allows children ages 2-10 and adults a chance to learn about zookeepers. Likewise, there are multiple feedings and shows that can be attended by the public throughout the zoo offering both information about those animals and possibilities for interactions with staff/volunteers.

Designed for children six and under, this 45-minute program gets children truly inside the orchestra by seating them on the floor, surrounded by a 30+ piece professional orchestra. Conductors face the audience and act as tour guide through the program. After the performance, children are given a chance to meet the musicians, ask questions, and take a closer look at the instruments.
Este programa de 45 minutos diseñado para niños de seis años o menos verdaderamente pone a los niños dentro de la orquestra al sentarlos en el suelo, rodeados por una orquestra profesional con más de 30 instrumentos. Los conductores están de frente a la audiencia y actúan como guías de recorrido durante el programa. Through student and family performances, campus-tours, and classes with world-renowned artists, there are numerous opportunities to enrich the performance experience.Before many family performances, we will host a Kid Zone one hour before the performance with face painting and other cultural institutions for some pre-show fun.Join us this season for the Okee Dokee Brothers on November 4, 2018 at 2 pm and March 14, 2019 at 7:30 pm for B-The Underwater Bubble Show.Instructions for receiving your tickets on-line will be available a few weeks before the performance.
