WHAT’S HAPPENING
DID YOU KNOW?
When we come to church, we are not coming to just an ordinary building. We are
entering a sacred place. Yes, the church is, first of all, the People of God “made one
as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one and … the temple of God built
with living stones, in which the Father is worshiped in spirit and in truth” (Order of
the Dedication of a Church, ch. II, 1). Nonetheless, the church building is made
holy not simply by the worshiping community, but by the very Presence of God. We
are participating in liturgy, the very worship of God. In church, we are most visi-
bly before God. Even our dress should acknowledge this. As St. Cyprian once said,
“The dress of the body should not discredit the good of the soul.”
All youth are encouraged to participate in
the song competition for AECYA and
submit it to the Chancery Office by Monday
July 2.
MINUTE
MEDITATIONS CONSTANT CONVERSION
Holy Spirit, renew our
hearts. Let our actions
preach eloquent ser-
mons that draw people
to Christ far better
than our poor words
can.
CORPUS CHRISTI
The Feast of Corpus Christi, or the Feast of the Body and
Blood of Christ (as it is often called today), goes back to the
13th century, but it celebrates something far older: the
institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the Last
Supper. While Holy Thursday is also a celebration of this
mystery, the solemn nature of Holy Week, and the focus on
Christ's Passion on Good Friday, overshadows that aspect
of Holy Thursday.
Thus, in 1246, Bishop Robert de Thorete of the Belgina
diocese of Liège, at the suggestion of St. Juliana of Mont
Cornillon (also in Belgium), convened a synod and
instituted the celebration of the feast. From Liège, the
celebration began to spread, and, on September 8, 1264,
Pope Urban IV issued the papal bull "Transiturus," which
established the Feast of Corpus Christi as a universal feast
of the Church, to be celebrated on the Thursday following
Trinity Sunday.
For centuries after the celebration was extended to the
universal Church, the feast was also celebrated with a
eucharistic procession, in which the Sacred Host was
carried throughout the town, accompanied by hymns and
litanies. The faithful would venerate the Body of Christ as
Congratulations to the eighty four
children who are prepared and will
be receiving the sacrament of the
Holy Eucharist. May we continue
to pray for them on their spiritual journey.

G od so loved the world that
He sent his only Son, so
that anyone who believes
in Him may not perish but
have eternal life.
I came into the world to
give my testimony as the Word of God. This
word is the emanation of the spirit that brings
the clarity of truth; the light that dispels the
darkness, the purity that takes away sins, the
life of God given to men so that they can
obtain everlasting life.
I did not come to condemn but to save. You
condemn yourselves to eternal death when
you live in sin, but I offer eternal life to you
if you believe in me and follow me.
I am the truth, and I came to witness the truth
about God. Those who acknowledge me
acknowledge God the Father, and those who
live in the truth live in me and in my Father.
I came to the world to awaken everyone to
the realities of the spiritual connection
between God and men. Being created in the
image of God you are His children, but
sharing the spirit of God you must live a
godly life.
When evil enters man, the Holy Spirit of God
has to leave. Then the evil spirit reigns in that
soul until repentance comes and the door is
opened back to God for Him to enter and
purify.
If men don’t repent and change their evil
ways, they are despising the truth that
calls them to live the way God has
disposed, in fact, they are condemning
themselves.
I suffered and died in order to pay for the
sins of the whole world, to manifest the
mercy of God that desires everyone to be
saved.
As a token of reconciliation between God
and men, the Father and I have sent the
Holy Spirit into the world to accompany
and to advise, to purify, to heal and to
sanctify.
The Holy Spirit is the third testimony of
God in the world since creation; it is the
fire of our love, which enters the soul to
give witness to our presence.
Blessed are those who yearn for the Holy
Spirit, they will be rewarded for their
good desire.
Fire will cleanse the world, the Holy Spirit
will purify with holiness, and the fallen
creation will rise in the presence of the
Lord.

As a welcoming faith community, centered in the Eucharist and guided by the Holy
Spirit to do God’s will, we seek to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by being
good stewards of God’s gifts and blessings, thus giving glory and praise to Him.

Celebrating Our Catholic Faith THE FEAR OF THE LORD
AECYA
The LOGO EXPLAINED
The two peaks are landmarked in St. Lucia. The Petit and Gros Piton are designated
Heritage of Human sites. Including them in the logo identifies the HOST country of
AECYA 2012. Their awesome majesty represents strength and a challenge to youth and
young adults, to be firm in faith and rooted in Christ.
The flame represents the fire the Word of God ignites in the hearts of Youth and young
adults called to be disciples and missionaries. It is also the glow from the lamp that
lights the way for disciples and pilgrims on their journey of faith.
The footprints on the path symbolize discipleship. The disciple is one who heard the word of God and follows the voice
of the shepherd, who knows his sheep and calls each one by name. The flame and the footprints combine to interpret Ps.
119:105: “Your word is a lamp for my steps and a light for my path”.
Blue represents the Caribbean Sea. Most of our AEC youth and young adults come from islands that are surrounded by
water. The Colour blue is also associated with Mary, the first disciple of Jesus and the Model of all disciples. Therefore,
encircling the logo with blue puts the AECYA 2012 and all youth and young adults under Mary’s protection.
The sunset in the background represents the preferential option of our local Churches for youth and young adults.
AECYA 2012 is a great investment in our Youth: Our Hope and Our Future!
