SteveJohnsonPresidentGEMInc.Fromearlyon,Steveknewhewantedtofollowinthefootstepsofhisfatherasanelectrician.HisdeepappreciationforthetradeledhimtojointheLocal#8IBEWapprenticeshipprograminToledoin1980.Stevelearnedcraftsmanshipandastrongworkethicwhilethereaswellasthevalueofcultivatingrelationships.In1987,StevejoinedtheteamatRudolphLibbeGroup.Duringhistenure,hehasbeenanintegralteammemberinrolesthathaveincludedsuperintendentoftheelectricaldivision,operationsmanager,vicepresidentofoperations,seniorvicepresidentofconstructionandexecutivevicepresident.In1998,RLGsetouttodramaticallychangehowtheorganizationlookedatsafety.Stevewaspartoftheteamthatdevelopedandimplementedaplantomakethisapresidingcultureanditremainsacorevalue,today.Thisalongwiththecompany’sethical,fairandtransparentcultureanditsreputationforexcellence–fromaccountingtotrucking-isagreatsourceofpride.StevewasnamedpresidentofGEMInc.in2015wherehefocusesonstrategicleadership.Hisabilitytoguideandnurturetheteamhasbecomepivotaltosuccess.Becauseofthis,SteveandtheteamcelebratedamajormilestoneasGEMInc.wasnamedthe2016MidwestSpecialtyContractoroftheYearbyEngineeringNewsRecord(ENR)magazine.Steveisalsorecognizedforhisforwardthinking,hisabilitytonavigatethroughchallengesandanoverallpracticalapproach.Thisalsocontributestohisin-depthunderstandingofGEMcustomers’needsandthesolutionsrequiredtoenhancetheirbusinesses.SteveisbasedintheToledoofficeofGEMInc.Heisfirstvicepresident,executiveboardofTheAssociationofUnionConstructors(TAUC),presidentoftheMechanicalContractorsAssociationofNorthwestOhioandaboardmemberoftheNationalMaintenanceAgreementPolicyCommittee(NMAPC).
