Sports Day 2013—a real winner! The weather couldn’t have been any
beer for our Sports Day—a nice cool
breeze in the morning kept the dis-
tance runners happy, but by lunch
time the sun was out offering ideal
conditions for a family picnic. The
children all entered into the spirit of
the day with healthy competition
everywhere you looked. Thanks to
Mrs Perkins and Miss Prophet for
co-ordinating the day and to all who
came along to support the children.

July Value of the Month—Adventure The first adventure most of us have had, took place in our
imagination. We read about Jack Stalwart’s adventures in other
countries, or got engrossed in the Beast Quest series and imagined
what it would be like to be part of that adventure. Maybe we
watched a superhero programme on TV or at the cinema and
imagined what it was like to have their super powers? Adventure
normally means something a bit scary and unexpected. But having
a sense of adventure is what makes life fun and is something we
want to value at Tadworth. You see, learning new things is like
being on an adventure. You never know where a topic will lead,
and how the experience might change you in some way. It might
include learning about a subject you knew nothing about and
thought was really boring, until someone helped you see why it
was interesting. Adventure might include visiting new places. It
can be exciting to spend a day or longer away from school learning
what it’s like to be in a new routine e.g. Alfriston or Sayers Croft. It
can even be an adventure to get to know a friend beer – visiting
their house and learning about their family. We want to develop a
sense of adventure as we enter every day. You never know what it
may hold. New friends? New ideas?
Discovering something about yourself that you didn’t expect to
find? When a group of children have an adventure in books, you
often find that there’s at least one who is very reluctant and would
rather be back home watching TV! We miss out on so much if we
decide we can’t be bothered. It’s so much beer to be commied to
a sense of adventure in whatever we do. You never know what is
going to stir in you that becomes an important hobby or even
career. So today, can be a new adventure. Are you ready? NP

Wimbledon Tennis Hits Tadworth Last week the Year Four children hosted our annual event to
raise money for charity. Our ‘Wimbledon’ day is a day full of
tennis and refreshments and all profits go to our charity, Great
Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). This year we raised £205
which will be added to Miss Sharp’s sponsorship from her
triathlon event. We were lucky enough to have Ollie (Harry
Drake’s brother) and Mr Gale (our parent governor) support us
on the day and ensure that the tennis matches ran smoothly.
Maybe there will be a few Andy Murrays and Laura Robsons in
the making after the event! In the afternoon, a nurse from GOSH
came to visit us to explain about what our money will go
towards. We had a fantastic day and were really pleased that the
effort the Year 4s put into organising the event had raised so
much money. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

delighted with the fantastic support we received from our

and joined in with the theme. Thank you all so much for the
delicious homemade cakes and for coming along to enjoy the
event. The afternoon included Lucky Dip, Face Painting and
Pick a Lolly events together with a ‘Guess the Number of
