Surfing: Kehu Butler and Raiha Ensor have made headlines again placing 3rd in the International final of the Rip Curl GromSearch. The event was hosted at Maresias Beach, the home of world surf league champion Gabriel Medina who was on site to cheer the best Groms in the World. Kehu scored an 8.6 on one wave and looked set to win with 2minutes remaining and other lead contender Kobaiashi needing an 8.4 to win. Kobaiashi locked into a runner and ended his wave with an air reverse that gave him an 8.6 and progression into the finals leaving Kehu in third overall. Raiha incurred a foot injury early in her trip, which hampered her performances. However a free flowing performance marked by big rail turns earned her a spot in the semifinals. Ensor drew McGonagall in the semifinals and although battling hard, lost the heat and finished third over all. World Class effort from both these outstanding Mounties

Player of the Day
Congratulations Tauranga u18 girl’s representative hockey
team, who will be playing at the national u18 association tournament in Dunedin in the upcoming school holidays, Maya Greet 11Cg Brooke Picken 11Lm Well done ladies we look forward to hearing all about your efforts following the tournament. Taekwondo: Nick started Taekwondo when he was 7 years old and had now been with Tauranga/Mt. Maunganui Taekwondo Club under the guidance of Master Kesi O’Neill for 9 years now. He has been to many Tournaments and has won countless medals and trophies and he still has a strong desire to succeed. Nick had the chance in 2012 to compete in the Australian STA Taekwondo Open tournament at the Gold Coast fighting as a red belt/black tip and won his fight against a black belt, which brought him home the Gold. This was an amazing experience for him and the team who went. Nick has been selected to go to the Malaysian Open Taekwondo Tournament this year in August. This is an awesome achievement for him and the selected Team and is also eyeing up the junior worlds in 2016, As you can imagine it's very expensive to travel to these overseas tournaments and we are looking for as many sponsors as we can get. And we would be very grateful to anyone who would like to help him his achieve this goal. We are very proud of Nick and wish him all the best and hope he can succeed in bringing home the medals. If you are interested in helping Nick get to Malaysia through sponsorship please contact mum Emma on 0274 843 274.
