Dear Colleagues,
Re: Support and Exhibition Prospectus for ICE 2018, Cape Town, South Africa
We are excited to announce that for the first time the International Congress of Endocrinology (ICE) will be held in Africa – from the 1st to 4th December 2018, Cape Town, South Africa !
South Africa is proud to be the hosting country, and on behalf of the Organising Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend and support this significant event. The Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa (SEMDSA), on behalf of Endocrinology on the African continent, is organising the 18th ICE under the auspices of the International Society for Endocrinology (ISE). It will be an international event, attracting international key opinion leaders in all facets of endocrinology, regulators, clinical experts and attendees from around the world.
Hosting ICE 2018 on the African continent will ignite an interest in Endocrinology in Africa and will provide great academic input to the numerous general physicians in Africa that, due to the lack of endocrinologists on the continent, are forced to care for patients with endocrine disorders. Cape Town, with its natural beauty, diversity and world-class facilities is the perfect venue to welcome endocrinologists and physicians from around the world. The conference will be taking place in the Summer and we are hoping that, similar to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) conference in Cape Town in 2006, this conference will attract close to 10 000 international delegates. The Cape Town International Convention Centre is a Green venue and is a worldclass facility able to host and accommodate over 10 000 delegates. It is ideally situated in the centre of Cape Town and is surrounded by numerous hotels and other options for accommodation.
We look forward to the opportunity of working with your company on this important event.
Yours sincerely
Dr Joel DaveChairperson: Local Organising Committee

It is true that the better you know your customer – and the better your customer knows you – the more likely you are
to make that first sale and the increasingly profitable sales that follow. Exhibitions are more about relationship-building
than selling a product. They are the most explicit form of direct marketing.
When it comes to the total quantity of a marketing interaction, nothing holds a candle to exhibitions. Exhibitions have a
number of advantages over other media. They are powerful tools for:
Ÿ Bringing your customers and most active prospects to you
Ÿ Meeting pre-qualified prospects
Ÿ Allowing you to meet your market face-to-face
Ÿ Allowing you to demonstrate products, answer questions and overcome objections
Ÿ Using all five senses to communicate a message
Ÿ Representing the marketplace in one place and time, bringing together suppliers, buyers, purchase influencers,
consultants and media
Exhibitions also produce tangible results, making it easy to measure the medium’s return on investment.
The ICE - SEMDSA 2018 exhibition will provide companies with a unique opportunity to participate in this exclusive
exhibition, focussed on all facets of clinical Endocrinology and basic research in Endocrinology. The companies
benefiting from this exhibition would include:
1. Companies that would like to influence or actively practice in any aspect of Endocrinology.
2. Companies who provide equipment or supplies for Endocrinology tests.
3. Companies who provide bursaries to those who study in Endocrinology and related fields.
4. Medical research companies
