• Interest: The feeling of wanting to know or learn

• Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.

• A virtual community is a social network of individuals who interact through specific social media, potentially crossing geographical and political boundaries in order to pursue mutual interests or goals. Some of the most pervasive virtual communities are online communities operating under social networking services

• A social network is a social structure made up of a set of social actors (such as individuals or organizations) and a set of the dyadic ties between these actors. (anything weird?)

• In the social sciences, social structure is the

patterned social arrangements in society that are

both emergent from and determinant of

the actions of the individuals. o On the macro scale, social structure is the system of socioeconomic

stratification (e.g., the class structure), social institutions, or, other

patterned relations between large social groups.

o On the meso scale, it is the structure of social network ties between

individuals or organizations.

o On the micro scale, it can be the way norms shape the behavior of actors within the social system.
