Role of SETA/SDF

Sector Education and Training Authority Established in terms of the Skills Development Act

Increases level of investment in Education and Training.

Aims to develop the skills of the SA workforce.

Encourages participation in learning programmes.

Improves employment opportunities of those who were previously disadvantaged.

What is a SETA?

Develop a Skills Plan for its sector (SSP)

Implement the SSP through skills developments interventions.

Receive and disburse skills development levies to qualifying stakeholders.

Record information about employment opportunities, training providers, assessors and moderators

Support SMME’s, NLPEs, NGO’s, CBO’s, CBCo-op’s

What does the SETA do?

Assist the employer to develop WSP

Submit the WSP/ATR to the SETA.

Advise the employer on the implementation of the WSP

Assist the employer with the drafting of the ATR against the approved WSP

Serve as contact person between SETA & employer
