Reach For The Right Things

“It is good to speak of God today.”

Thank You for coming and worshiping.

Just being around CHURCH doesn’t change our hearts – it takes the Lord!

Matthew 14:22-36(KJV) 22And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. 34And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. 35And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; 36And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

Times when we need to be alone with God - 22

Take time out to meet with the Lord one on one

Time in prayer before a “big day” will bring great results

Times when we need to invest in needful prayer

23And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Times when “dangers” and “peril” happen in life

24But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

Was not a little squall

Our problems are real

Our problems need real help

Times for a rescue by the Lord (or be found) - 25

25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Endangered

Needful (are you lost?)

Endangered

Needful (are you lost?)

Times for introspection of our feelings for Him

26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Should we fear?

Physical harm?

Should we fear?

Physical harm?

Physical separation?

Should we fear?

Physical harm?

Physical separation?

Spiritual separation and harm?

Times to listen to Him - 27

27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Encouragement was given - Be of good cheer

Recognition is needed - it is I

Worrying should be released - be not afraid

Time to seek the right things?

28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Do we want glory or fame?

Do we want to just serve the Lord?

Time to answer or react the right way? - 29

29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

Time to answer or react the right way? - 29

We answer YES or NO (even when we do not answer)

Time to excel? - 29

…he walked on the water…

Time to excel? - 29

What can we do for the Lord (with His help?)

Time to look the Right way? - 30

30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

When we are in trouble who do we need?

When we falter, do we need Him?

When we are sinking, who do we need?

Time to call out to the Right One? - 30

…he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Time to reach out to the Right Hand - 31

31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Time to worship in the Right Ship – 32-33

32And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

When we are with Him the “sailing” is easier (not effortless)

When we are in His presence we need to be worshipful

Time to share the Right One with those around us

34And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. 35And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; 36And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

That we know Him (not that we walk on water)

That He loves us (not that sailing with Him is easy)

That the time is right to know Him (not put Him off until tomorrow)

Romans 13:11(KJV) 11And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Hebrews 3:15(KJV) 15While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

That He can be reached

That they can be made whole (Spiritually changed and ready to meet the Lord)

That there is joy in the Lord
