Transcript of Prosjekt | From eld/lab to a 3D calculation · Today, the GS Presentation tool can store eld data...

Other tasks include the implementation of a prototype for creation of design pro les formaterial parameters, visualization of both input and results and providing appropriate anduseful user support.

GeoSuite Presentation was selected for storing the eld data, Novapoint 19 was selected forproviding the BIM Interface1 and the research project GeoFuture's 3D analysis kernel wasselected as the 3D analysis engine.

Today, the GS Presentation tool can store eld data and the eld data can also be imported intothe BIM. The challenge, when establishing a data ow from eld or lab to a 3D calculation, resides in connecting the BIM to the 3D analysis kernel.

In this present development phase, the prototyping with the Novapoint 19 Tools system isbeing completed, connecting the BIM to the 3D analysis kernel pre-processor. The analysiskernel pre-processor was also create as a prototype in this work package. The pre-processorreceives or fetches the input data (geometry, material parameters) from the BIM and createsan element and material model for the analysis kernel. After the element and material modelare created, they are transferred to the 3D analysis kernel. The 3D calculation can then be run.

Prosjekt | From eld/lab to a 3D calculation

PERIODE | 2011 - 2015

LAND |This work phase will focus on demonstrating provingthat a dataflow can be established originating from fieldor lab to a 3D calculation and its results. A major part ofthis development is the creation of prototypes doingthis integration.

Visualization: Both the input material parameters and the results are presented as "heat maps".This development is part of this work package.

A prototype for the creation of the design pro les with the material parameters is presentlyunder implementation. The module will be able to receive lab data etc. from the BIM interface, and will allow the user to use the lab data when creating the design pro le. The design pro lewill then be put back into the BIM.

An appropriate and useful user support is also a part of this work package.

BIM (Building information modeling) is a process involving the generation and management of

digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. BIMs are files (often but

not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be exchanged or

networked to support decision-making about a Place.
