(SBERC)

Our Road to the New Report CardSlide Cast Presentation #3

In this presentation, you will….

• Review the definition of a standards-based report card

• Review “grading” in a Standards-Based Learning Environment

• Explore the connections between and among curriculum maps, grade level rubrics and the report card

What is a Standard-Based Report Card?

• A standards-based report card highlights the most important skills students should learn in each subject at a particular grade level. In a standards-based learning environment, students receive marks that show “how well they mastered each skill.”

Mission Possible Our “Tale of Two Committees”

This School Year, Two Committees Embarked on a Journey to Produce a New Report Card

• Assessment Committee identified key district assessments and benchmark assessments critical to understanding student achievement.

• Report Card Committee identified key elements for the elementary report card.

What do both committees have in common?

• CCSD Curriculum Maps

The Curriculum Maps Lead To:

1. Development of Assessments

2. Development of Trimester/Yearly Rubrics

• Note: Curriculum Maps are “living documents.” Each year, curriculum committees review maps and rubrics. The committee often times will edit the maps/rubrics to reflect solid pedagogical practice.
