What do we use it for?

» To talk about actions or states that began in the past and are still continuing.

» The progressive tense can also add emphasis to the duration of the action.

» Jane has been working at the bank since 2009.

» When did Jane start working at the bank?» Does she work there now?» Did she work at the bank between 2009 and

now?

» I’ve been working all day.
